I just don't like the way some DUers minimize the evil in the other side's actions and words.

Calling people "rats" is reminiscent of Hitler--an image of infestation that calls for extermination. The other association is in the criminal underworld, where once again the human "rat" is something that needs to be killed.

I've received hatemail calling me a "rat" before, so I understand the psychological effect of the word.
