3. I have caller ID, so I haven't answered any of these calls
To get through to my landline, a caller MUST provide a number. If the caller has ID blocked, all they can reach is an automated voice giving instructions on how to temporarily unblock. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer, figuring that any important call will be left on voice mail. Those with a need-to-know have my cell number.

Sadly, this is my SOP from about mid August through Election Day.

Lack of a land line means I'm invisible to the robocallers. Damn shame. I was hoping to sic Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe on their asses.

22. You did that just for this purpose?
Or is this just a way of blocking any unwanted calls?

25. Push polls and recorded candidate speeches ARE unwanted calls
I set this up several years ago, before the national Do Not Call List when I was getting three or four sales calls a day. I live in an apartment and I don't own a car; I do NOT need roofing done, nor am I interested in getting my windshield replaced! Now that I am registered with the DNCL, it helps me block out the push polls, recorded candidate speeches and other types of solicitation that are not blocked through the DNCL. The services add about $12 to my monthly phone bill, but I think it is worth it.

8. Keep 'Em On The Line...Make 'Em Pay
Remember, these are computer dialers, the second you hang up, they're off to the next number. By holding the call, you not only take up precious time they need to harass other voters, but it costs them money, as if you hang up within a few seconds, they're not charged for the call.

Today, I've trapped 3 of these calls on my fax machine...one I held for nearly 10 minutes...it kept trying to hang up while I kept the line "clamped".

up my business line with this harassment. It is only fitting that I return the favor. I think I'll give them 5 calls an hour until my store closes at 10. That's fair, isn't it ? From one business to another b2b, I'd like to think.

If you do call, be polite, don't harass, and just tell them that you're not happy with their harassing phone calls, that you would like them to stop, and that they've made you even more certain to vote Democratic. Also, give them your phone number and tell them that you do not wish to receive any more calls and that they should stop immediately. I'm not certain what the laws are concerning political calls but I believe that if you ask them to stop calling you they are obligated by law to do so.

DON'T BE NASTY OR HARASS! If you do then you'll be doing what they're doing.

They share phone and fax numbers with this organization: http://www.bold-stroke.com/

The following five organizations all share the same IP address and appear to be related to each other.

24. Revenge with a Skype autodialer?
I have Skype -- skype exposes an API that programmers can use.

How hard would it be for someone to write a little program that would accept a WAV file that I create, and a list of phone numbers to -- say, for example, the RNCC and Conquest Communications -- and just automatically dial them over, and over, and over, replaying my WAV file?

I wonder if there's a sharp programmer out there who is familiar with the Skype API and could whip something together. Hmm.

28. I have done this
I used it to exact revenge on pharmacy telemarketers from India who would never, ever, ever, ever, stop calling me. I'd ask them for a number to call them back and then leave it running for days. It was fairly easy to do - these macro or automation programs record your mouse movements and key strokes - and play them back.

Sometimes Skype would bring up a popup with a survey, halting the automated program - that problem I could never solve. But there's a lot of programs out there to do it, I don't remember exactly which one I used.

Here's just one example: http://www.download.com/Workspace-Macro/3000-2380_4-10473864.html - there are probably free ones out there.

27. Reminds me of the time...
...that Dave Barry gave out the number of the national telemarketers' organization. They actually had the gall to complain that they were getting unwanted phone calls as a result. "Gee", snarked Barry, "I hope you didn't interrupt them in the middle of dinner".
