Listen to this robocall (.WAV) being sent to Virginia voters:

Tim Daly from Clarendon got a call saying that if he votes Tuesday, he will be arrested. A recording of his voicemail can be found online at: www.webbforsenate.com/media/phone_message.wav
The transcript from his voicemail reads:

"This message is for Timothy Daly. This is the Virginia Elections Commission. We've determined you are registered in New York to vote. Therefore, you will not be allowed to cast your vote on Tuesday. If you do show up, you will be charged criminally."

Daly has been registered to vote in Virginia since 1998, and he has voted for the last several cycles with no problem. He has filed a criminal complaint with the Commonwealth's attorney in Arlington.

24. I got a live "robocall" of sorts last night.

It was not recorded. BUT.. it was someone in a call center that left a message, supposedly from the Democratic Party... she was rude, didn't know what she was calling for, she bumbled, mumbled, and it was clear it was an attempt to discredit the Democratic Party. My caller id said "unkown". I have gotten a ton of calls so far, but this one was blatantly designed to piss people off.

Oh.. and both of our absentee ballots, which I PERSONALLY adding postage to, were returned after a few days with no stamps on them... the last of the two arrived Saturday and had to be remailed.. hopefully to be received in time tomorrow (oh, and my privacy flap was ripped off on the envelope, revealing everything about me). I put nothing past them!

They (both parties actually) canvass and make phone calls to id voters. They also have a voter file from the state of Virginia. I'm not sure what the Virginia file has in it, but most if not all will tell you if someone is registered democrat or republican.
