A question about Bush's deviation from a "Stay the Course" strategy in Iraq |
|
Listening to reports of some of his campaign stops, it does not seem like he has actually done this. My question, though, is this: was there any indication in the weeks leading up to that point that he was changing his mind? Were there any news stories about how President Bush had begun to entertain doubts about his strategy in Iraq, even if he was still comitted to it? Or was it simply an abrupt 180?
I do not remember seeing any such reports about a gradual changing of his mind, and it seems to me that such a major change of opinion, however hollow it has proven to be, could only come about after many weeks of careful deliberation.

That's why I doubt that he was really all that damn sincere about it.

3. Riddle me this, Batman |

You are a passenger in a car with a driver, who you find out too late is drunk. He drives off a steep cliff. You start yelling at him for being an idiot and he complains "don't whine at me about this situation, what's YOUR plan to get us out of this mess"
Stay the course, change the course, flexible, blah blah blah,....the thing is utterly screwed up beyond any recognition and I don't want to hear any republicans whine or complain about what the democrats will have to do to extricate the country from this roiling hell hole created by Bush.

Honestly, my first thought when I heard it was "Oh, you fucking liar." And nothing's changed; it's the same rhetoric, the same macho posturing, and the same bad ideas.
