Election volunteers and voters: have this number memorized when you go to the polls tomorrow. Call if you see anything suspicious.
http://www.smirkingchimp.com/thread/2427The National Campaign for Fair Elections’ Election Protection program hotline 1-866-OUR-VOTE is administered by the Lawyers' Committee at call centers across the country. It is the only national hotline that offers voters immediate assistance from volunteers trained to provide state specific information, identify issues that compromise the administration of elections, and respond to problems.
In addition to the hotline, Election Protection offers a dynamic and responsive legal structure to assist voters on the ground. In targeted locations across the country, Election Protection carries out a legal field program through our Local Legal Coordinating Committees (LLCCs). On Election Day, the LLCCs convene a Legal Command Center, staffed by experienced Election Protection attorneys and other key staff, which communicates with volunteers in the field and hotline call centers. The legal field program also deploys mobile field attorneys to polling locations throughout the day to investigate and solve problems. Some locations also have a larger-scale program that includes poll monitors at targeted precincts and local hotline call centers for their area. Each LLCC is in contact with their local election official before Election Day and are trained and prepared to bring litigation where necessary to protection voters' rights. All of these elements are supported and coordinated through the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline and the national Legal Command Center. The Lawyers' Committee also works to help coordinate the legal and field components in each state to provide for maximum efficiency and communication at both the national and local level.
As with past programs, a broad national coalition will support state and local coalitions to lead efforts in targeted locations around the country. National co-sponsors include: the American Bar Association, Asian American Justice Center, Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Common Cause, Electronic Frontier Foundation, IMPACT, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, National Bar Association, National Black Law Students Association, National Congress of American Indians, National Disability Rights Network, Poll Workers For Democracy, Rock the Vote, Verified Voting, United States Student Association, and many more.
