Studio 60: "What is this culture war all about?"
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 11:26 PM by Stephanie

"Well your side hates my side, because you think we think you're stupid.

And my side hates your side, because we think you're stupid."

5. I like it too - and usually that means it is gone -
normally I get to them after they have been running several years before I ever find out about them. So who knows since I got here early in the start of this

7. It's about control...
It's about domination and denial and resisting it.. One side wants equality, accepts change and wants diversity the other side wants a rigid hierarchy , sameness and conformity.
This Quote sums it up...
"Empathy is antithetical to control, which is why control systems demand psychopathy as the standard mode of function."
"Keep hierarchy and contractual obligation prostrate before caring, compassion, and a heart-felt responsibility for all life."
So, what upsets the"conservos is some people don't want to LIVE that way.

Check this, I wrote this about the "core values" of conservatism..
This is why the "conservatives" are at war with us, our expression, our person hood, diversity, equality, empathy and such..1 in 4 people have a personality type that falls along the lines of psychopathy, authoritarian or narcissism, So they tend to gravitate to conservative ideologies and belief systems because of their personality types.Conservatism excuses and rationalizes their flawed limited controlling persona's and gives them a rationale to dominate us. They do this so they can feel secure, and in control of themselves, they project their inner weakness upon us, and can deny that reality by denying others they fear dislike or just feel they can bully by oppressing, their rights to be, to disagree and be different.

13. Hugh Sorkin fan. And I am series!!!1!!1
I love his dialog - I've got copies of The West Wing Script books that I enjoy reading over and over. You catch stuff in the written dialog that often sails right by you in the airing of the show. The actors have to be near geniuses to be able to do those pages and pages of rapid fire dialog while moving seamlessly from one room to the other throughout the White House. I see the same camera work in Studio 60. There is no detail too small for Sorkin to attend to in perfecting those lines. West Wing was still a favorite after Sorkin left but the writing was no where near his standards. (I think I was also living vicariously through the show actually having a sane, responsible, smart president.)

Love Studio 60. The writing and directing is "West Wing style" all over again. Hope NBC gives it a chance to catch an audience. We so desperately need a smart, funny, thinking man's show to fill the void of empty shout talk, crimes stories and game shows.

12. We saw that too!
We replayed that part several times on the Tivo.

I hope this show catches on--it's really a great show.
