10. Good work.
So sad, the whole premise though... well, not the premise, but the fact that soooo many people are so easily beguiled, misled and/or confused by the notion. It's so patently absurd to think that the Republicans are somehow better at national security or dealing with threats in the world, whether it's the potential of a real war or acts of terrorism. Especially when the absolute opposite is true; while Democrats would probably only do a better job by a factor of perhaps ten times--since they'd be obstructed by Republicans at every turn, we would indeed do so much better, it defies language to describe. Addressing problems with analysis, rational thinking and critical thought, prioritizing responses and making the best use of resources while also working with other nations in the effort to avoid war and stop terrorism before it can even organize would make such a difference it would be hard to believe. While those things alone would make a world of difference, they're just part of the story. Preventing and avoiding the creation of threats is another reason for the vast difference in success ("success" defined as Democrats achieving an order of magnitude better results than Republicans--despite Republican efforts to prevent Democrats from succeeding in making America safe (which should be considered treason)) in creating a more secure America by simply not going out of our way to deliberately create new threats and avoiding expanding existing ones--which is what Republicans have actually done!

Of course, it's rather obvious. If you have a problem with wasps, don't go out and purchase a "wasp breeding kit" and then use it to the best of your ability to create new wasps and and place additional wasp nests around your property. Whatever you do, don't go "feeding" the wasps! NOT doing those things would be the absurd first steps to avoid in order to deal with wasp problems. THEN we could actually study the wasps, read up on how to deal with them, consult with others, obtain the appropriate tools or professional assistance and then go about eliminating the already less large problem with wasps. Get it?

Consider the following scenarios in which a given company is hired to improve Swimming (Water Safety) Security. Each scenario represents how reality would have played out if the given company was given the job. You will be asked which scenario/which company was most successful...

Violent Imbeciles, Inc. developed it's program to enhance water safety (security). First, they'd seek to deeply convince people need for their exclusive/special/superior quality program. To do so, they would go about actively drowning large numbers of people by (a) taking them out in the middle of a deep lake while the waves were rough, (b) tying 100lbs of lead weights to each swimmer and (c) clubing each over the head with a baseball bat before tossing them in. Then, and only then, would they turn to preparing further recommendations and techniques. Being very clever, their program would consist of nothing more than the following: (a) instructing swimmer to try not to breathe water, (b) to produce placards saying "avoid wearing lead weights while swimming", and perhaps "avoid swimming while unconscious", (c) try not to swim in bad weather out in the middle of the lake. No swimming lessons would ever be provided to anyone. However, lead weights and baseball bats would be made available in quantity; ensuring the problem will continue for years... They would never assess the effectiveness of any of their approaches, and even when faced with evidence they're failing miserably, they would never change their approach. All this for a mere expenditure--paid for by the public--of half a Trillion dollars and more--leaving the whole community deep in debt for generations to come.

Rational Safety Corp, on the other hand, wouldn't overstate the problem and avoid generating massive amounts of fear in the general public. Then, they'd provide training programs to educate the public on boating safety (avoid storms, avoid excessive speeds, wear life-vests, etc), first aid training, water safety (don't boat/swim under the influence of drugs/alcohol; don't swim wearing restrictive clothing (or lead weights), etc). Boats would be inspected for safety, maintenance and onboard safety equipment, including life-vests which would be required to be worn when appropriate. A program of Swimming Classes would be developed, free for all and conveniently provided to all children via their schools. They would train and station life guards where needed. They would assess the results of their programs on a regular basis and make changes where needed and always be open to new ideas. Far few casualties and greatly enhanced safety, all for far less than 1/20th of the corresponding Violent Imbecile's program--thus allowing for a new civic center to be built, large numbers of college grants, free public medical care, a "living wage" for minimum wage, and huge numbers of new jobs...

Which one do you think was better on Swimming Security in reality? The one that experienced large numbers of drowning deaths, but which spent by far the most? Or the one that saved many lives, dealt with the problem intelligently, improved the lives of most of the community, and still barely spent anything? If you're a Republican, we know which group you think best took care of the problem... and we also know you're perpetually wrong.
