This was Jack Lessenberry (a local Michigan NPR news guy); he also said that the anti-affirmative-action referendum was running 50/50.
58% Granholm, 58% Stabenaw, both are projections of course (at 8:30 pm EST)

Democrat challenger Chris Bell narrowly looses with 30%.

"Candidates winning multi-party races with less than 50% of the vote" has been a pet-peeve of mine for years. This race is the best argument I've seen yet for the "instant run-off" second-choice pick in elections. When a person is elected governor even though 60% of the voters voted against them, something is terribly wrong! :mad:
