Senator Schumer's press conference yesterday (party position on Iraq) |

On C-Span last night I saw Senator Schumer's press conference in which he announced that 39 of the 44 Democratic senators have agreed on a party position on the Iraq war.
The Democratic Party offers "not just a change in tactics, but a change in strategy," Schumer said. "We are telling the public, that should we get into office, there will be a change in course."
This is something I was recommending last week, Wednesday morning. My idea was that the Democrats in both houses should have caucused for a vote, then send out the leadership from the House and Senate, stage a big press conference and tell the nation, "The Republicans say we have no plan, but it is they who are in control and have offered no plan. Here's the Democratic plan: ..."
This would have put Iraq solidly at the forefront of voters' minds, dismissed the lies about the Democrats having no plan and distracted the idiots who were stupid enough to believe the lies about John Kerry's botched joke.
I just hope an eleventh hour, Monday afternoon small press conference wasn't too little too late.
