Lugar is running unopposed! What the hell is up with that? |
|
I voted for the libertarian. I just couldn't bring myself to vote for Lugar, even though as Republican Senators go he could be worse. I didn't even know he was up for re-election till I saw his name on the ballot. C'mon, man! Couldn't they find _anyone_?

1. There's supposed to be a write-in DEM... |
|
But I don't even remember his name.
Looks like I'll be voting for the libertarian as well.

3. I wrote in Jack Baldwin... |

I would've written in virtually ANYONE else's name in protest of Lugar running unopposed. To add insult to injury the head of the Indiana State Democratic Party, when announcing that they would not put a candidate up against Lugar - referred to Lugar as 'beloved by all Indianans' --

is incredibly respected by both democrats and republicans in Indianapolis because of his foreign relations policies. So the Dems didn't bother wasting money to run anyone against him. I don't agree with them. I believe these elections were important enough to put out an effort.
In other Indy news, I just drove past a polling place downtown, predominantly poor minority democrat area and the lines were down the block. I went to my polling place, predominantly white upper middle class repubs... no wait, no line, no hassles. Something stinks there.
And the IndyStar was reporting that half of the machines didn't get turned on this morning because the poll workers couldn't "remember how to turn them on or operate them".
I have to admit this was the first time I've voted that it felt so anti-climatic. No receipt, no sticker...nothing...just blind faith that my vote will be counted. /sigh
There was a spot to write-in for Dem by the way, but I wouldn't have a clue who to write in. There is also an Independant candidate. I had to vote Independant.

5. Used to be some Vermont Sen. that spent under 100 when he ran. |
|
I can not re-call name but I recall reading it. He always won and every one liked him. He mailed out a few things and let it go at that. I think he was in the GOP as Vermont used to be in the GOP before the nuts took over the party.

10. I guess we forgot the 50-state strategy... |
|
I voted for the write-in candidate and think we should challenge the write in laws. It's crazy. You have to preregister as a write-in, and thus there's time to put "write-in" on the ballot in some races, but not time for the candidate's name? And in other races where there are no preregistered write-ins, you can't write in someone?
The Dems should have run someone, even if they didn't spend a lot of money on that person. There are many worse senators than Lugar, but we should have been given a real choice. And who knows -- in a "wave year," what might have happened?

12. I wrote in Thomas Jefferson |
|
And I sent a nice long e-mail to Lugar explaining why I did not vote for him. I'm sure he'll spend time reading it... not. But at least I feel better.
Hopefully next time we'll have some real choices. It's not easy being a Bluehoosier.
