Can't you see the manipulation? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 09:47 AM by maxrandb
To me, the manipulation of the American electorate, or should I say attempted manipulation is so easy to see. Thankfully, due to Mark Foley, Ted Haggard (sp), Bob Ney, and partially John Kerry, the Repukes attempts to manipulate America seems to have failed.
I sat back and watched a little this past month, and imagined what would have happened had the above news stories not taken a large portion of the news cycle. You would have seen the following:
- the Thursday before the election, Bush' labor department would have released "adjusted" numbers for employment painting a rosey picture of the job market, despite the fact that leading economists laughed at their "adjustments".
- on the Saturday before the election, Saddam would have been sentenced to death and we would have gotten nothing but 24/7 coverage of how wonderful Iraq was now and that we had turned yet another corner.
- the day before the election, the Pew Poll would have over-sampled conservatives and would show that the Repukes are "surging".
- the day before the election, gas prices would be their lowest in over 3 months.
If you stand back and look at it, the manipulation is transparent as plastic wrap, or as transparent as our politics used to be when we had the Fairness Doctrine.

3. Mom called me and said she is voting for Sherrod |
|
A swing voter and left leaning Catholic, she is sick of seeing what they have done to Ohio. The fact that 3 of her 4 children live in other states due to unemployment in Ohio rings true to her.
Mom has been watching what is going on and mom isn't stupid.
It brings back a take on Lincoln's quote by the Little Rascals. You can fool some of the people some of the time...BUT YOU CAN'T FOOL MOM!

5. I'm trying to find confirmation |

but I heard that Rush Limpballs had made robo-calls for the GOP. Isn't he supposed to be "ahem" "fair", or "just an entertainer"?
Bring back the Fairness Doctrine!!

4. K & R. Even the repubs, and formerly ardent gwb supporters, are rolling their |
|
eyes at the obvious talking points that pop up on the "news" and the clearly political machinations of the cabal.
I still think we're stuck with about 20-25% truly uninformed, delusional people who would follow gwb and his manipulators off a cliff.
However, I've got to believe that within that 25% are a large number disgusted by the behavior of Foley and Haggard.
So, we shall see. Great OP. Damn, I really have to leave, now. Sign holding is calling! MKJ
