It's a fairly nice day, so I decided to walk over, as the polling place is only four blocks away. It's a good thing I did, as parking was at a premium. Walked in and filled out the requisite form, the lady found my name and address, and handed me a ballot. I then voted, nearly a straight ticket, but I really don't care for our County Attorney, so I wrote in a name instead of him. In and out fairly quickly and no problems. The ballot was paper, the scanner was optiscan and everything looks good on that front. Strange thing though, in the partioned off areas, there were instructions for electronic voting machines. I suppose this post is fairly boring since there were no problems. But here in Scott County, Iowa, we believe in doing things honestly. If anyone reads this and hasn't voted yet, GET OUT THERE AND VOTE! And encourage your friends and family to vote also.

I love going to vote. And my dad - a Republican when I was growing up and who became a Libertarian about 10-12 years ago, although he didn't vote for either Bush and liked Clinton - told me this morning that he is voting all Democratic in Florida! Wow!
Granted he said he might puke as he pulled the lever, but this is amazing! Since he went Lib I basically just see his vote as "well, at least he's not voting for the Republicans" but this time he agrees it's time to throw the bums out. True, he expects the Dems to screw things up too, but that's ok. baby steps. Hopefully good things will happen.
oh yeah - the polling place I went to had an E-vote Touch Screen machine and no one used it - they waited for the paper scantron ballots.

That district was, is, and likely always will be Democratic. Hare may not have elected office experience, but he was Evans' aide for many years and has contacts inside Washington, as well as the Illinois Democratic machine backing him.

no problems. I reside in Dist. 2, Dist 3 & 1 all had similar voter totals when I arrived this morning. It appears it will be a heavier than usual vote. I suspect a lot of late voting when the commuter rush begins. All three districts are the oldest in town and probably the most racially & economically diverse for a white suburb. This should be interesting since a lots of people register blank. The older districts tend to have more Democrats. We have a Red county (Orange) and my town is usually Republican. I wonder how much the coat tail effect Spitzer will have.
