Did you receive political phone calls? |
|
My dad in AZ says he got some from real people, very polite, all asking him to vote dem, and for Pedersen, which he did:
A good sign I think is that I have 2-3 calls a day soliciting my vote. Every one has been from the dems. Do the dems have a better get out the vote system than the reps? I'm registered rep so maybe the reps feel I'm a safe vote for them. My callers have been very polite with an urging to vote dem. I was happy to have so many calls, indicating there are lots of precinct workers

I live in TN.... many calls for both Ford and Corker.
I never tell the Corker people that I'm a Democrat, because I want them to waste their phone call on me.

11. Really? We got numerous, sometimes within minutes of each other |
|
Right now I have 10 messages on the machine from letting it pick up the calls..and that doesn't count the ones I've already deleted or the ones I answered. At one point, my DH was speaking to one of our candidates campaign canvassers who was at our door, while the phone was ringing with them asking for our support.

9. Sadly, no. McCain is still God incarnate around here. |
|
And probably will be until he retires.
But Kyl showed to be unexpectedly vulnerable as did JD "Asshat" Hayworth.
Win or lose, the Republican party is going to have to rethink the future.
And that, in itself, is a victory.

|
3 days. Called 360 people on my list and I have to say that most everyone was polite and cordial. I'm totally amazed at how many people already voted/were going to vote. This election is very important to Democrats and they know it. That's why I feel the turnout will be great and we will see a change in this rubber stamp Congress.

I've only been called on a ballet proposition, but for some reason my nephew has been on some kind of hotlist for both parties (he's a registered Democrat).
For about a month my sister's phone has been ringing off the hook with calls from both McCaskill and Talent. This is her standard script when a Talent worker calls:
Repuke: Hello, is Rick home? Sister: No. He's attending Mizzou. He doesn't live here. Repuke: Is this his mother? Sister: Yes. Repuke: Can we count on your support for Jim Talent? Sister: (Bursts out laughing) Um....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (click)
They never seem to cross him off of any lists, and in the last week the calls have really gotten bad. She LOVES the Talent calls, though, just so she can laugh into the phone at them.

I think there have been about 10 Republican versus one Democratic phone call. Let them waste their time, I voted Democratic.

35. Got a call from Bill Clinton this morning... |
|
I live in Missouri. Dems are very organized here this year. Live in St. Louis county. For the first time ever I had the Democrats call and ask if we needed a ride to the polls and also got a real live person calling from my husband's union reminding us to vote. Plus plenty of robocalls, dem and rep. On the stupid side, we've gotten two phone calls from Kit Bond, our repub senator, that started out "hello Susan, this is kit bond", there is no Susan that lives here and we've lived here over twenty years. On the local news at noon they said expectations were that there would be a 70% turnout today in the county and a record was set for early voting in the midterms. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes to robocalls.....from the NRCC. I filed a FCC complaint. They're legal in NC BUT we got up to 4 a day (harassing) and (a) the NRCC was identified at the end of the call, not the beginning (illegal) and no phone number for the NRCC or the company that made the calls was provided (illegal).
No to calls from Democrats, but we made calls and hosted calling parties. Most of the lists that we worked from were pretty tailored, which was great. They were designed to skip people like me -- that fact that I will vote and which way I'll vote is pretty assured. They tried to tailor the lists to catch those folks who were less likely to vote and/or who were more likely to be undecided.
My neighbors (Dems) were called MANY times yesterday by both parties. There weren't registered to vote -- I pestered them until they registered and they both voted. They were new voters so they were targeted by everyone. (I think they wanted to kill me last night. LOL) The last call they got was at 9:30 last night! Naturally it was from Republicans. The husband was sooooooooooooo pissed off at that point he said, "I'm going to find the name of a gay Muslim to write in." The idiot on the other end of the phone said there wasn't anyone like that running. At that point my neighbor said, "Look. Get this: I will NOT vote for any Republican now or in the foreseeable future" and he hung up.
Keeping EVERYTHING crossed!
