Where Will You Spend Election Night? |
|
Strangely, I'll be spending Election Night with a bunch of Repubs in MS. My bluegrass band is being paid (rather well, might I add) to play for Sen. Trent Lott's victory soiree here in Jackson. Before you flame me (I'm only one of four guys in the band; the other three are rather non-political and can use the $$), it will be most interesting to see the faces in the crowd if/when the predicted Democratic wave sweeps in. I'm predicting long faces and consumption of mass quantities of alcohol (in fact, I plan to have a celebratory glass myself, not a medicinal one)! Lott is in no danger of losing his seat, and I imagine he'll make his victory speech early. After that is when it should get interesting.
Where will you be tonight?

We'll probably go by Qdoba's and get something for dinner on the way home, as you get double credit on Tuesdays.

....NOT watching returns. My Dem family will be in their flat right below watching those. I'll just listen for my mom to applaud super loud. If not I'll be there to hug her. :patriot: :hippie:

Got a little girl who seriously needs the experience, for her first show coming up in January. She's gorgeous, but very shy; I've got her to the point where she'll stand still for the judge now, but won't yet let herself be touched.
After that ... I'll be here on DU. :)

Watching the results of the day with my children (12,14,16). Last night we watched Hacking Democracy and So Goes the Nation. It was like a slap in the face to them, and I think for the first time they really really understood what I had been saying for the last 6 years. I want them to be angry, I want them to know the truth and I want them to fight for our freedom just as our forefathers did so many years ago in this great Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
This election is imperitive for one reason and it ISN'T IRAQ.
The most important issue for the Dems to tackle if we win today is to start immediate hearing on electronic voting fraud and voter suppression efforts.
Without true elections we no longer live in a democracy and every other issue is in the hands of the dictators.
