2. "Happy Days Are Here Again"
So long sad times
Go long bad times
We are rid of you at last

Howdy gay times
Cloudy gray times
You are now a thing of the past

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again

Altogether shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again

Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on ...

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So, Let's sing a song of cheer again

Happy times
Happy nights
Happy days
Are here again!

Hope no one puts a shotgun blast through the banjo's head. It's new!

48. Yep, that's the one.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin

12. For Whom The Bell Tolls ~ Metallica
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 12:13 PM by jus_the_facts
Make his fight on the hill in the early day
Constant chill deep inside

Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey
On the fight, for they are right, yes, but who's to say?

For a hill men would kill, why? they do not know
Suffered wounds test there their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know

For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tolls

Take a look to the sky just before you die
It's the last time you will

Blackened roar massive roar fills the crumbling sky
Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry

Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery
He hears the silence so loud
Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be
Now they will see what will be, blinded eyes to see

For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
For whom the bell tolls

Renegades of Funk by Rage Against the Machine maybe?

Rocking in the Free World by Neil Young?

Block Rocking Beats by the Chemical Brothers?

We Shall Overcome by Joan Baez

Chimes of Freedom by the Byrds (or Dylan, but I like the Byrds version better).

Nausea by Beck (but just cause it's a good track, not for political reasons).

Is the Dem theme song for 06. I'm not a country music fan... but the lyrics are so fitting.

There's gotta be something more
Gotta be more than this
I need a little less hard time
I need a little more bliss
I'm gonna take my chances
Taking a chance I might
Find what I'm looking for

22. 'On Your Way Down' by Alan Toussaint
Covered by Little Feat and Elvis Costello...

Sunrise

Sunset

Since the beginning it hasn't changed yet

People fly high begin to lose sight

You can't see very clearly when you're in flight

It's high time that you found

The same people you misuse on your way up

You might meet up

On your way down

Vintage wines from the year '62

It's your thing, it's your thing

It pleases you

You got to frown when you cross town

You think it's an honor just to have you around

It's high time that you found

The same dudes you misuse on your way up

You might meet up

On your way down

You think the sun rises and sets for you

But the same sun rises, sets and shines

On the poor folks too

I don't mind you turning round

I myself would even like a little higher ground

It's high time that you found

The same people you walk on on your way up

You might meet up

On your way down

On your way down

12: New Damage
When new damage comes
It's a faceless poison
A new world order
It's new damage done
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
Get out, yeah

When new damage comes
It's a new word for plague
A new world order
A new word for hate
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
Get out, yeah, before you drown
Get out, get out, oh yeah

When new damage comes
It's a new word for plague
A new world order
A new word for hate
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
Get out, yeah, before you drown
Before you drown, drown, drown
Get out, before you drown
Get out, before you drown
Before you drown
Before, before you drown

28. ''The Gunner's Dream,'' by Pink Floyd
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 12:42 PM by OneAngryDemocrat

The Gunner's Dream (Waters)

Floating down through the clouds
Memories come rushing up to meet me now.
In the space between the heavens
and in the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream.
I had a dream.

Good-bye Max...

Good-bye Ma.

After the service when you're walking slowly to the car
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell
And touch the silk in your lapel

And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
You take her frail hand
And hold on to the dream.

A place to stay...

Enough to eat...

Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud

About your doubts and fears
And what's more no-one ever disappears
You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door.

You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law

And no-one kills the children anymore...

And no one kills the children anymore...

Night after night
Going round and round my brain
His dream is driving me insane.

In the corner of some foreign field
The gunner sleeps tonight.
What's done is done.
We cannot just write off his final scene.

Take heed of his dream.
Take heed.

Imagine a country with checks and balances! Imagine the restoration of our tattered Constitution!

There is a long and difficult road ahead of us. The damage done in the last 6 years cannot be undone quickly, but there is finally some hope.

I'm your top prime cut of meat, I'm your choice

Kids want a savior, don't need a fake
I wanna be elected

Were gonna rock to the rules that I make
I wanna be elected, elected, elected

I never lied to you, I've always been cool
I wanna be elected
I gotta get the vote, and I told you about school
I wanna be elected, elected, elected

Hallelujah, I wanna be elected
Everyone in the united States of America

We're gonna win this one, take the country by storm
We're gonna be elected

You and me together, young and strong
We're gonna be elected, elected, elected
Respected, selected, call collected
I wanna be elected, elected

43. Hmmm, good question...
I'll definately be singing "Hey hey hey...GOODBYE" (muthafuckers) *ha ha*

The office down the hall from mine has a portrait of He-who-shall-not-be-named facing the hallway. Everytime I pass it I think of Eminem's "Mosh". That song got me through a depressing period after the '04 election. That and Green Day's "American Idiot".

Tonight I will definately be listening to Disturbed, especially "Ten Thousand Fists", "Deify", "Land of Confusion", and "Sacred Lie". \m/ :headbang:

People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you then walk away
You will remember the night
You were struck by the sight of
Ten thousand fists in the air!

~"10,000 Fists"

Did you know the war is far from over now?
What a stumbling block we've fallen over now
As our brothers die defending no one
The war is far from over now.

Give us a moment of peace in our lifetime.

-"Sacred Lie"

B*** speaking: Our country is strong
We go forward to defend freedom
And all that is good and just in our world.

All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you've stolen from me

You want to know why I feel so horrified?
I let my innocence die
You want to know why I can't be pacified?
You made me bury something
I won't be sleeping tonight

I only wanted the blessing made,
Now I've been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You're no immortal
I won't let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man.

~"Deify"

To hear them perform these songs live @ OzzFest was truly a moving moment. :)

50. Dead Kennedys "Stars and Stripes of Corruption"

Finally got to Washington in the middle of the night
I couldn't wait
I headed straight for the Capitol Mall
My heart began to pound
Yahoo! It really exists
The American International Pictures logo

I looked up at that Capitol Building
Couldn't help but wonder why
I felt like saying "Hello, old friend"

Walked up the hill to touch it
Then I unzipped my pants
And pissed on it when nobody was looking

Like a great eternal Klansman
With his two flashing red eyes
Turn around he's always watching
The Washington monument pricks the sky
With flags like pubic hair ringed 'round the bottom

The symbols of our heritage
Lit up proudly in the night
Somehow fits to see the homeless people
Passed out on the lawn

So this is where it happens
The power games and bribes
All lobbying for a piece of ass

Of the stars and stripes of corruption
Makes me feel so ashamed
To be an American
When we're too stuck up to learn from our mistakes
Trying to start another Viet Nam
Whilke fiddling while Rome burns at home
The Boss says, "You're laid off. Blame the Japanese"
"America's back," alright
At the game it plays the worst
Strip mining the world like a slave plantation

No wonder others hate us
And the Hitlers we handpick
To bleed their people dry
For our evil empire

The drug we're fed
To make us like it
Is God and country with a band

People we know who should know better
Howl, "America riles. Let's go to war!"
Business scams are what's worth dying for

Are the Soviets our worst enemy?
We're destroying ourselves instead
Who cares about our civil rights
As long as I get paid?

The blind Me-Generation
Doesn't care if life's a lie

so easily used, so proud to enforce

The stars and stripes of corruption
Let's bring it all down!
Tell me who's the real patriots
The Archie Bunker slobs waving flags?
Or the people with the guts to work
For some real change
Rednecks and bombs don't make us strong
We loot the world, yet we can't even feed ourselves
Our real test of strength is caring
Not the toys of war we sell the world
Just carry on, thankful to be farmed like worms
Old glory for a blanket
As you suck on your thumbs

Real freedom scares you
'Cos it means responsibility

So you chicken out and threaten me

Saying, "Love it or leave it"
I'll get beat up if I criticize it
You say you'll fight to the death
To save your worthless flag

If you want a banana republic that bad
Why don't you go move to one
But what can just one of us do?
Against all that money and power
Trying to crush us into roaches?

We don't destroy society in a day
Until we change ourselves first
From the inside out

We can start by not lying so much
And treating other people like dirt
It's easy not to base our lives
On how much we can scam

And you know
It feels good to lift that monkey off our backs

I'm thankful I live in a place
Where I can say the things I do
Without being taken out and shot
So I'm on guard against the goons
Trying to take my rights away
We've got to rise above the need for cops and laws

Let kids learn communication
Instead of schools pushing competition
How about more art and theater instead of sports?

People will always do drugs
Let's legalize them
Crime drops when the mob can't price them
Budget's in the red?
Let's tax religion

No one will do it for us
We'll just have to fix ourselves
Honesty ain't all that hard
Just put Rambo back inside your pants
Causing trouble for the system is much more fun

Thank you for the toilet paper
But your flag is meaningless to me
Look around, we're all people
Who needs countries anyway?

Our land, I love it too
I think I love it more than you
I care enough to fight

The stars and stripes of corruption
Let's bring it all down!
If we don't try
If we just lie
If we can't find
A way to do it better than this
Who will?

Hey hey I saved the world today
Everybody's happy now
The bad things gone away
And everybody's happy now
The good thing's here to stay

Hell on wheels
Pedal to the metal
One bad machine
That white line you've been chasin' around

AAAUUUGHHH!

edit: for a good theme song for tonight, something kick-ass and catchy by a group known for being political. "Renegades of Funk", "Tubthumping", etc.

But PLEASE no Fleetwood Mac. :puke: Just what were Clinton-Gore thinking in 1992 anyways?
