RovoCalls -- the end of the "Bush's Brain" legend?
Given the MSM has decided to expose the "RovoCalls" as being Republican dirty tricks before the polls close, do you think this might end up being viewed as a backfire -- a tactical error that cost the Republicans more votes than it gained? I think so. I guess it depends on the results in the most heavily targetted races.

And on how much money the RNCC ends up getting its ass sued off for, and how many of them end up in jail like what happenned in NH.

All over the non-political blogs (it quite nicely hit Slashdot Yesterday :bounce:) I see astroturf trying to say "Democrats do the same thing" -- the NetVocates are definitely being called up to play defense on this. Defense is where we want them. To this talking point the best response is probably to talk about the $500/call legal penalty and how a few calls by a few rogue Dems, if they even exist, is not going to bankrupt the Democratic party, whereas the RNCC has made several tens of thousands of these calls. I think it's quite likely there's already some screaming going on inside the Repug ranks over this.

The excellent diaries at DailyKos show us how to fight it legally -- now it's time to think spin and framing for PR purposes. Thoughts?

1. Was it covered on non-cable network news last night?
That's the key question for me. If so, it's a net loss almost certainly.

8. I've been saying the same for years: Rove was NEVER a genius.
The only "surprise" he ever gives his opponents is when
people are SURPRISED at how SLIMY he is.

None of his famous "tricks" were ever especially CLEVER;
I've yet to hear of one that was even an ORIGINAL idea.

7. Let them prove it
If Dems are playing dirty tricks, they deserve to be punished too. But it's clear that at least 99 percent of this stuff is Repukes.

10. I think it is the beginning of the end, at least.
RovoCalls are being noticed and discussed, and I'm hoping that the media gives them even more attention in the next few days.

Then we can have a honking big national discussion about the M.O. of this dirtbag whose salary WE'RE paying while he works for one party and one party only.

I'm in the "Rove is no genius" camp, and the RovoCalls are more proof of his limits. Since his College Republican days he's been doing dirty deeds and trying to make it look like the other side is responsible for them. That's his one trick (see bugging his own office, stealing opposition party letterhead and using it to promise parties, etc., all the way up to smearing veterans while loudly whining that no-one should dare question George W. Fucktard's "service").

I'm hoping this discussion opens a lot of previously closed eyes.
