"my vote matters"
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 12:56 PM by stellanoir
I ran out to the market this morning and asked the cashier if he had voted and he said,"Yeah and I feel really good about it."

Then I idiotically went on a mini diatribe about our insecure voting technology. Perhaps I shouldn't have done so as he was a sensitive sort. He lowered his head and I felt horrible for bumming him out.

I apologized profusely to him. He said "Don't worry about it. "I then proceeded to sort of backpeddle and said, "Look it's great you did your civic duty and participated." So I furthered, "Maybe now for the rest of the day just keep saying to yourself, "my vote matters.""

So that may just be a more than decent mantra for the day for those of a spiritual orientation and based on somewhat less than rational reasons (based on right brain activity and consciousness) which were alluded to yesterday in this thread. . .

Disclaimer: Encouragement of spiritual reinforcement of intention is SUPPLEMENTARY to all other more overt efforts and can be at times a great motivator for more conventional, concrete, and practical efforts of activism and is in no way in meant to be a panacea for all that ails out culture. Nor is it intended to in any way encourage complacency, quite to the contrary in fact.

Very simply it can't hurt.

"may all that is hidden be revealed"

"My vote matters." It's a good mantra. (Better than Ooga-Booga-Smooga-Wooga, anyway.)

6. whether my vote matters is not the issue!!!....
Although I voted in the primaries at my convenient polling place and made VERY sure to change my address at the Voting Registras office, WELL-before recent primary elections, somehow my voting place has moved. Now I'm about to drive 50 miles one-way to vote. You see, in Alabama we don't need Diebold to keep active Democrats and minorities from voting. We're kinda of conservative down here and that new-fangled technology is fur, them, thar, yankees... Weez, just does it the 'ole fashun way. GO VOTE ANYWAY!

I'd crawl 50 miles on broken glass to vote right now, I'm so pissed!

10. yup go vote anyway for sure
No question about that. That polling place switch seems to be happening all over.

Sorry it's causing you such an inconvenience. Yikes.

And nobody's vote will count unless they cast it. But once they do this mantra can't hurt.

intimidate the rest of the little people...
