************* OFFICIAL OPTIMISM THREAD *************
Ok, there is nothing wrong with being worried, upset or even downright pissed off. But this little thread is for optimism ONLY.

I'll start. I am damn glad the media has taken a respectable stance on global warming the last few months. It may not be perfect, but you rarely hear the 'opposing side'. And about this election... I am happy that we are going to pick up seats and I am damn proud of our chairman for appealing to 50 states. We won't win 'em all this year, but eventually, with hard work, we'll make it happen.

All of their misdeeds are coming to the surface now...more and more people are aware of their corruption every day. Whatever happens today, we must keep fighting!

8. I've always loved election days!
They remind me of christmas presents--you never know what will be under the tree. But today--for the first time in years--I really think I'm going to find my Red Ryder BB gun

9. My optimism lies
with replacing the worst of the reThuglicans and perhaps the best side of the Republican party will start to show. I don't want to turn into the power hungry GOP that exists today, I want a peaceful functioning Congress that gets things done for ALL Americans (including those that are Independent, Libertarian, Green and even conservative Republicans!). I want to move America forward, that is what I am hopeful for, PROGRESS!

12. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Oh. That might be the wrong metaphor.

The way I see it- it took a lot of time to pick up momentum. And now that we have it, I know that even if we don't pull off enough wins now, we will soon.

And they're scared. That makes me happy.

18. I'm with you. I have a feeling that even the problems are not
to be tolerated this election. I think the dems have found something they misplaced six years ago, the fighting spirit. And I have faith that they'll fight to to ensure we not only take the House, but the Senate as well. (I think we've already got the governorships, but that's just my opinion.)

We will persevere. We will win. There are just too many people who are fed up with the republican party, they're gonna help us win.

I intend to be raising a pint in one hand and an excessively large Philly blunt in the other to toast our victory.

Cheers.

20. When we went to vote
the dems at the tables were all smiley, the repukes looked sullen.

Turnout has been very high, higher than in '04 so far.

21. I'm happy that they started reporting the Dirty Tricks yesterday
OK I only watch Olberman but that was great that before a vote was cast the GOP disenfranchise machine (robocalling) was exposed. I am also happy that HBO aired Hacking Democracy. I am happy that Howard Dean is on our side. I am happy that we all have eachother here at DU to turn to no matter what the results.

(all of this positive stuff was an effort since I'm leaning pesimistic but I did feel a bit better from the attempt.)
