The young Democratic ground forces are out in force in SE Michigan today... |

In my sprawling apartment complex, which enompasses about 60 separate buildings, two lakes and a mini golf course, volunteers from the young Democrats committee of the Genesee County Democratic Party were out en masse this morning, knocking on doors, reminding people to vote, dropping literature and even singing to get the voters hyped. And at my precinct, my voting line (which is pretty much exclusively for my apartment complex), one of the regular poll workers said that the line was about twice as long as is typical. Hopefully this means that our blue state will turn an even deeper shade of blue, and hopefully it's representative of what's going on across the country.

Just make sure you squeeze all those bodies into the polling station before the doors close. I suspect that legally they have to allow you to vote as long as you're within the physical boundaries of the poll, even if they haven't got to you yet. Don't wait in line outside the station, or they'll just shut the doors in front of you at 8 pm. Get your ass in there! And spread the word, too. It may be a bit crowded, stressful, and confusing for the poll officials to have a mass of people three-deep standing in front of them and waiting for their ballot, but oh well, that's what they're paid for.
It's gratifying to see such a large turnout, though, especially for midterms.

4. And especially since it's pouring rain here today. |

My polling place was pretty light, but it seems there are more polling places this year.

The increase in polling places is encouraging for Democrats and democracy alike.

Southern Oakland county, mostly repuke but many more Dem lawn signs this year. Regardless of the outcome a good turnout is good for America.

6. The Dem's have been out in force in Macomb County as well ... |

I was really pleased to see how busy my polling place was.
As usual I cried (a little) in line waiting to vote because it is such an honor to be able to do so ... actually, I was just teary eyed. I always lose it if someone hands me a copy of the Bill of Rights.
