http://www.boston.com/news/local/politics/candidates/articles/2006/11/07/massachusetts_may_break_turnout_record/Massachusetts may be heading for a record voter turnout in today’s election as the state prepares to elect either its first African-American or first female governor. Election officials across eastern Massachusetts said polling stations have been busy since polls opened at 7 a.m. In Boston, almost 36,000 people voted in the first two hours alone.
If the morning trend continues, election analysts expect turnout will top the modern record for a governor’s race set in 1990 when 2.4 million voters elected Republican William Weld over Democrat John Silber. This time, Democrat Deval Patrick holds a double-digit lead in opinion polls over Republican Kerry Healey.
Go Mass!!!!!!!!!!!
