Please, guys, do not pull signs out of the ground. |
|
There has been some posting about this, and here are the facts: Signs are allowed in the vicinity of voting precincts. The law is different in different states as to how near or far these signs should be and the distance is measured and posted. Here in Florida it is 100 feet.
If you see a precinct with many republican signs, call your dem headquarters and volunteer to pick up some democratic signs and put them up. If you are the last to post your signs, you can place them strategically to block the other signs. ;) But don't remove or pull down any signs. This is bad form and just leads tit for tat to petty vandalism. Utilize your election day time in better ways.

1. I live right behind the polling place |

I've had my signs up for almost two months. The only other signs put up (on the other side of the polling place) yesterday were for the Dem candidates. I've been watching most of the day and expect the turnout to be in the 60/70% range. That's probably double 2004's turnout. I look at opposition signs like negative TV ads, they just get my hackels up and prove my contrarian nature. Let them have their signs and talking points, it might buy votes but it doesn't solve problems.

2. I held signs all morning and put them in the ground when I had to leave. |

I'd be really upset if they were torn down. That is why I don't touch anyone else's signs. However, there were only dem signs at my precinct. :) I think the repubs are a bit weary this year.
