Tried to vote on a paper ballot in Tn. They wouldn't let me.
I just couldn't believe it...the volunteer said I couldn't vote on a paper ballot. I asked him to call the Tennesee Election Commission, which he did. That person at the Election Commission asked him to ask me why I wanted a paper ballot. I answered that the machines are hackable. He told the Elec. Comm. person what I said and that person said that in the state of Tn. they weren't allowing paper ballots in this election.

Needless to say...I was pissed!

BTW, tons of people out to vote today...many times more than I've ever seen.

2. I find it amazing that there's no nationwide standardized and regulated voting method down there.
Something as important as that, you'd think there'd be a uniform voting system in every state with national oversight.

5. I asked for a paper ballot in CA and "it's discouraged"
I asked for a paper ballot and was told that it was discouraged because the voting machines have paper records.
I said too bad, I wanted a paper ballot. There were only two poll workers - supervisor and everyone else was out to lunch. I got some huminah's. Then I asked, "are you saying you don't have any paper ballots?"

The guy said no they don't, but the lady said yes they do and got up to get them. I caved and said I'd vote on the machine. I suspected my paper would be trashed.

There wasn't a booth set up to let anyone fill out a paper ballot. I'd have to use the floor or sit next to the poll workers...

Even though our voting machines have paper records, it like quadruples the time needed to vote!

The lady behind me complained that her voting machine already had votes on it when she inserted her card, and the male pollworker spent a long time poking and prodding the machine (I saw the yellow button!) to try to get them to go away, and I heard her ask for a new card. I don't know what happened after that. The guy in front of me (I could see over his shoulder! remember when there were curtains over the booths?) couldn't figure out how to use the touchscreen so I helped him on my way out the door.

What a mess. I sure hope this is the last election they're used.

6. Same here when early voting in Clarksville, TN
I asked for paper and I was directed to the person in charge. She informed me that none were available and seamed really upset that I had asked ! She went out of her way to escort me out of earshot of everyone and even made a face when I inquired as to a paper trail (none!)
