Even if Lieberman wins Connecticut, if we get enough Senate seats there's no reason to make him majority leader, right? Anyone have the info on this one?

8. I'm more afraid that he'll caucas with the Dems, then give the info
to the Republicans.

Do we have enough seats in the Senate to make him obsolete?

6. If Lieberman wants ANY senior positions, he has to kiss OUR ass if we take the Senate
Otherwise, he'll be blowing the GOP leadership for a chairmanship of a key committee in exchange for his votes.

If he makes it this time, it'll be the start of his last six years in the Senate, I'd wager.

No way would someone who, technically, IS NOT A DEMOCRAT, be leader of anything except the Spoiler's Club.

10. Joe can go fuck himself.
He ran against the Democratic candidate, and nothing he does will erase that, on top of everything else against him.

16. Depends on what he does with his party affiliation.
Just because he RAN as an "I" doesn't mean he has to stay that way. Just as Jim Jeffords switched from Republican to Independent, LIEberman can switch from Independent to Democratic if he wants. Of course, he could also go Thug.

So in a way, it's up to him. It SUCKS that he beat out the Democratic candidate, but if he returns to the party we ultimately will not have lost a seat. While the acrimony of the race may make some people want to reject him anyway, the reality is that his seat may become crucial if tonights elections are close. I'd rather play nice with a Democratic-affiliated Lieberman and control the Senate, than be spiteful to a Republican or Independent Lieberman and deal with two more years of uncontested Republican domination of the Senate.
