8. A BIG ONE
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 10:36 PM by noahmijo
Unseating Kyl is second only to unseating McCain in terms of status amongst the state.

Kyl has always been a respected Republican Senator for nearly 20 years. The fact that an unknown like Pederson can even COME CLOSE is a huge victory.

Although I despise Kyl he isn't quite as bad as a bush neo-con-even if he wins the victory lies in the fact that he will pay attention to the will of the people in that he knows that supporting bush like policies isn't exactly very popular.

Gabby is more of a left of center democrat and right now she is trouncing religious right xenophobic graf who is a punk with no teeth. This was the race I was watching the closest.

11. nobody even dared to challeng Kyl 6 years ago
he was considered so unbeatable.

Man, I hope Pederson gets him. Oh, and as a former and future Montanan, I am praying Tester gets Burns. If Pederson and Tester win, I will be in heaven. :)

So lets get that beer!

9. It is heaven right now..but hell for the 4 summer months
It is especially heaven tonight...70 degrees and although it seems like Kyl has a small edge still like I said just the fact that an unknown pederson is even coming this close...coupled with the fact that Gabby is going to trounce Graff in a mostly Republican area...that's still enough for me to be celebrating!!1

14. the number from Pima will be big, and I think for Pederson too
I remember last year nobody could have predicted how Trasoff and Uhlich would blow out both Rondstadt and Dunbarr for City Council. Tucson will go Blue by a huge margin, bigger than normal, and the turnout is big too.

19. Where did you get Pederson leading Kyl?
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 10:58 PM by AZBlue
azcentral.com shows Pederson 45% and Kyl 52%, but that's only with 25.8% of precincts reporting (updated at 8:52 pm)

I like your numbers better (and azcentral/The Arizona Republic is certainly biased, so I'm taking that with a big grain of salt)

22. I posted that minutes before the 45-52 score came
ah well like I said I expected Kyl to win, Pederson winnng would've been a great stunning out of nowhere upset but just the fact that Pederson came even this close given the fact that he is an unknown who was running pretty much on a "I hate bush" platform is a nice surprise.

If anything Kyl is the type that will see what sort of "mandate" the masses are calling for and just maybe might ease up a bit on the neo--con agenda.

Overall though I wanted to see Gabby trounce Graf and I got my wish so I am still celebrating.

25. Bye-bye, you lying SOB Hayworth!
I love Mitchell...he's got a practical plan for the illegal immigration crisis, AND he's a Democrat. Best of both worlds! :D

I remember back in 1992, when Dan Quayle had a rally here, ol' J.D. Worthless was playing emcee, asking trivia questions. I led a gaggle of Dems in heckling his ass right off the stage--literally! If only I could heckle him right now...!
