Prelim Zogby exit 50th Cong. Dist CA: 12.4% had/see problem with voting; 3.5% Paper opt-out of evote
Our sample of 339 out of 900 completes for the Zogby exit poll in CA's 50th Congressional District is so far a little heavy on Republicans in the sample because it's early, but 12.4% had a problem with voting or else witnessed one themselves. That's a high figure!

Around 3.5% have taken paper ballots at the polls as opposed to absentees, and those numbers will not be reflected in anything released by the San Diego Registrar of voters tonight.

For those interested in 50th Cong. Dist. horserace numbers, those will be released at 9pm, the sample's a little small right now with a spread of much less than 10 percentage points, in whose favor I won't say. Let's get the margin of error down before we jump the gun. Just like the media should not report figures as if they were representative samples tonight because so many Dems, the lion's share of 3.5% have opted out of the process of electronic voting... and that means that election night results will be distorted in favor of republicans wherever a paper ballot optout option is available or there are significant numbers of provisionals to count later

We also filed an emergency appeal because the San Diego ROV is not planning to even start to count the heavily Dem paper ballots until Thursday, two days after the election: creating a second class system of balloting.

Would anybody think it was ok if African American ballots were proposed to be counted STARTING thursday, and white votes counted and reported on tv Tuesday night? the elections officials should not be discriminating against the more visible and accountable ballot option: paper ballots.
