On Election Night coverage, declare Kerry and Allen "the big losers".

Say "their presidential aspirations may be over" and for "similar reasons" (!!!) and equate the two's statements. They also allude to knowing exactly what Kerry meant, yet fail to convey it to the audience.

Apparently criticism of Bush = insulting the troops = use of the n-word = stuffing a deer in a mailbox.

ALSO I think Tavis Smiley compared Kerry to Allen??? Someone else did.
It was highly insulting "conventional wisdom".

This will be the new playing field, the new goal posts. If Kerry and others do not go on the offensive to defend Kerry's character assassination and rip Allen in comparison, now that the election is over and Allen is trailing. This is the wedge, folks.

Otherwise it will be 2 years of "the Kerry dems" versus the "Web dems" or the "Clinton dems" versus the "Allen repubs" depending on the outcome in Virginia.

1. I ran into David Corn at the polling place and asked him about this
He said he was prepared to defend Kerry on this in the future if Kerry did a better job explaining the joke, but it was up to Kerry.

Good news is with Webb now ahead, Kerry may have some allies, especially if he chooses to make hay out of the Kerry-Allen comparison by election night prognosticators, where you have the media equating overt racism with being soft on Iraq.

If I seem less ebullient than I should, well, I knew it would come down to Missouri and Virginia and I'm glad for a change that it's DEMS leading in late, withholded precincts!!! I thought for sure it was over at 11:30 ET because Dems NEVER seemed to win close <1% elections in Diebold states... incredible!
