Damn, Harold Ford is great.
Just watched his speeck on MSNBC... What a hell of a speaker. It's a damned shame that he's not the new Senator from Tennessee. If he were white, or if it weren't for the Republicans' vote supression bullshit, he would be.

2. It will happen. In our lifetime.
Considering the odds, he did wonderfully. He is to be admired and commended. Trial by fire, but he came out just fine.

3. that stupid ad I think did it
reminded the conservative Tenn people that he is young, single and black....they just weren't ready enough...

they say Harold will run again and that is why he was so polite to the other side

6. I dunno - that ad caused a momentary bounce back in the other direction
At least according to the internal polls. And the polls also showed that 74% of Tennessee voters found it inappropriate.

I think the bigger mistake was his crashing Corker's press conference, which caused the first big shift towards Corker in the polls and seemed too "uppity" and "disrespectful" for a Southern politician.

4. Well, he came a lot closer than many of us expected
48-51 in Tennessee, which has tended to give Republicans in Senate races 10 points/plus. Though he was pretty conservative, it's a damn shame he didn't win. Here's hoping he has a long career in politics nevertheless - perhaps Tennessee governor or Senator again, replacing Alexander?

5. I didn't care for it that much...
After his umpteenth mention of God, I zoned out.

Plus, I'm still pissed that he dissed Kerry and feel that it may have cost him the election.
