If the Greens hadn't run in VA, Webb would have won handily
according to media reports (MSNBC.) Of course they have a "right" to run, but it's interesting to note.

1. If he wins at all, as it appears he has done, I'll take it.

2. People we need to calm down - we won virginia
Webb took charge and said "we won". We took the lead in the minds of the people there. We're up so stay happy!

3. It's a different party from the real Green Party, actually.
The party that ran the 3rd party candidate here has no affiliation with the national Green Party.

4. Maybe...but it seems to me that a lot of "third party" voters wouldn't vote..
at ALL, if they didn't have the option. It makes me crazy, but I'm not sure those voters
were ever in the bag for us or the Repukes, for that matter.

5. If the rest of the registered VA Democrats voted, this wouldn't even be an issue.

11. You can't suppress a dem's vote if the dem doesn't vote in the first place.
Those are the ones I'm talking about.

6. I'll only spend any energy on hating them...
if it actually costs Webb the election. Like MM said, if Webb wins, that's good enough for me.

But if Allen wins and it's by less than the Green Party's total, I'm grabbing my torch and pitchfork! (I mean, how much of an egotistical shit do you have to be to vote Green, not caring that you could be giving the election to the fascist?--or, in this case, white supremacist....)

7. I like to think that if we didn't have that damn...
...Enshrine-Homophobia-In-The-Virginia-Constitution amendment on the ballot, things would have been worlds easier too.

But I will be honest, though, my patience is phyllo dough-thin with the freakin' Greens at this point.

8. I think that's less true now than in 2000
It was always hard to determine how much of the Green vote would have gone to the Democratic candidate had there been no Green candidate and how much would not have voted at all.

The realization that Bush was not just another conservative president, but something much more dangerous, brought a lot of the Green Democrats back home. They may not like the DLC, but they'll make peace with it rid the country of a greater evil. Most of thise remaining in the Green party will probably never vote for a Democrat.

10. Sure but so what?
This is the reality that we have to work with. If that damn guy, whatsisname--Allen?, had not run, Webb would probably have won pretty handily, too.

12. Not worth worrying about them
Whomever still votes for green party candidates, simply doesn't get it.

They can't be anymore educated at this point. They are as braindead as fundies.
