3 Big Thank You's to everyone who voted for a losing Dem today. |
|
If you know someone (or are someone) who voted or worked hard for a Dem candidate who did not win today, please pass on, or accept, my thanks:
Thanks for running interference. If the Repugs were not being pressed on all sides, they would have been able to focus their efforts better. They would have spent less money, retained more seats, and would not have stooped so low into the bag of dirty tricks that we can now proceed to sue their asses into oblivion.
Thank you for keeping yourself registered to vote, so you can again when chances are better. You used it, so you won't be losing it, and you've built up your local organizations, and your local community, through the friendships and relationships that these campaigns inspire.
And finally, thank you for getting Dems out to support down-ticket races and ballot questions. Today's county auditor is tomorrow's state rep is the next term's state senator is the next term's federal representative, and lord knows we need new blood.
So even though there's no jumping in the streets and free champaign, treat yourself to something sweet. You deserve it!

1. That helps, seeing as how my state seems to be the only one... |
|
...without any sort of ousting of the Republicans (South Carolina). Most of the races were 60%-40% in favor of the Republicans. One of the few state offices that was held by a Democrat, he was voted out. Gay marriage ban passed like 80%-20%. It was my first time voting, so it's a little depressing to see my vote didn't matter much in my home state.
However, it's great to see what's going on nationally. I guess I may be in the minority in my state, but I'm part of the new majority in the USA!
