In spite of the apparent good news about both houses, I must say
that I am absolutely disgusted with the population of this country. I am disgusted at those in MO who voted against allowing federally-allowed stem-cell research, and chose to listen to lies spewed by a bunch of athletes and threats of cloning rather than the informed opinions of doctors, scientists, and lawmakers.

And I am even more disgusted with those who, in several areas, voted overwhelmingly in favor of denying basic human rights to homosexual couples, just because gay marriages make them feel "uncomfortable".

Of course, who can forget the racist and xenophobic who voted for overtly racists candidates, or who voted for a repuke for Congress just because the idea of having a woman as Speaker of the House scared them...

Sure, we may have the Senate and House, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

There are some really sick people in this country.

7. I agree, the fact that this is even debated is deplorable.
I think that 5-7% of the population being against stem cell research is acceptible. You can't completely get rid of nutballs. But 45%? That's a freakish level of ignorance.

10. but, but, Kurt Warner said it would lead to cloning, on a commercial
and, you know, even though he no longer plays for the Rams, and isn't even a starter for his current team, he still... ... ... wait, why the fuck do I care what he says?

5. I agree. And that's why my joy is controlled. We obviously have
serious problems. These people are making it difficult to keep America safe, strong, rational, intelligent, compassionate, and just. I'm overjoyed that we've won. But there is no excuse for some of this stuff. It's patently depressing. We can win all we want, but if the American people do nothing but shift to the right, we're still painted into a corner. I want to do more than just stop the Republicans from turning America into a hellish police state. I'd actually like to see it become a nice little stable home for us all.

6. It doesn't matter that much.
It appears that we have taken the Senate. That means we can garrote any Supreme Court judges we don't like, and then most of these things will be overturned as unconstitutional.

8. But, what I am saying is, there is something very wrong with a lot of people
if the results were even this close...

Now that we have Congress, lets show them what we are about, and really get things done.

13. as in 2004 I was disgusted by people who actually did vote for Mr.bush
Appalled that, even discounting the inflated numbers, that there were still that many people in my country who felt the way you describe. Appalling. Now, let's go get started fixing things and perhaps these people will get a clue that thtey are part of the world. Down with fear.

14. I'm more disgusted by those who chose not to even vote (except for
the Repubs). Seriously, fuck everybody who didn't vote. As dumb as I think they are, I still have more respect for people who voted Repub than those who didn't vote at all. What a bunch of suckers. That represents almost half of this country. Shame on these idiots.

17. I am not so sure about that
the argument I hear from those who don't vote is "They are all liars" or "They are all corrupt" or "They are all the same" or "What's the difference"

I don't agree at all with that line of thinking...

but...

I gotta say, I respect them more than I respect Repig voters. Because at least they are smart enough to recognize that the repigs are disgusting assholes who are completely full of shit.

Repig voters are so stupid they they actually buy into the lies, and think that Bush and conservatives are good people...

16. We still have to live with millions who let a.m. radio tell them how to vote.
Bad things can still happen with so many gullible people.

I hope many of those with the brownshirt mentality can start thinking enough to support their country instead of blindly following a political party.

19. we still have machine and obscene levels of other vote corruption.
so hold your disgust until all the votes are counted, sunlight is shined into the darkness, and we have a clearer understanding whether this "closeness" was fabricated or real.
