So, how do we keep Pelosi out of the Speaker's chair?
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 02:00 AM by Kelvin Mace
After all, this the woman who vowed there would be no impeachment.

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has pledged not to pursue impeachment of President George W. Bush if Democrats win the November election.

"Impeachment is off the table," said Pelosi in an interview aired Sunday on CBS "60 Minutes."

Asked if that was a pledge, Pelosi said it was.

"Yes, it is a pledge," she said. "Of course it is."

Pelosi called impeachment "a waste of time," and suggested Republicans -- who have controlled the House for 12 years -- would make political hay out of it if Democrats tried to impeach Bush.

We cannot allow this Vichy Democrat to shield BushCo.

30. Bush has 2 years left. You would have to impeach and convict both Bush and Cheney.
I want to see a $10 an hour minimum wage.

I want to see repeal of Medicare Part D and placement of the drug beneift into Medicare part B
repeal the means test on Medicare Part B. Place the former Medicaid beneficiaries
back into Medicaid where they had full drug coverage.

By the way South Dakota citizens voted down the abortion ban.

I want to see vote by mail with paper ballots counted by civil servants passed by congress.

I want to see registration of voters by civil servants and maintenance of registrations by civil servants passed by congress.

However I want Bush investigated for provoking the 9-11 attacks and for invading Iraq.

3. it was a mistake for her to say that, but who really cares?
they go back on their promises and vows and pledges all the time, so why don't we?

And besides, even if she lives up to it, they will still try to make her look as though she is going back on her vow.

So if they are going to do that anyway, why not go all out?

They're not looking for impeachment now...
but if during their investigations something should come up...

I don't think they should be going impeachment hunting right off the bat. Subpoena and investigate first.

7. That was then, it's called politics.
Now what they'll be able to do is investigate and WHEN they have gathered and organized all of the concrete evidence against Bush, THEN impeachment will be a viable option.

24. I tend to agree. She could probably be dragged to an impeachment
. . kicking and screaming . .,

Remember what hell she caught when she first called Junior "incoompetent"?

In fact, I believe it was two CongressWOMEN from CA that first dared to criticize the Hero of 9/11.

23. Conyers... Oh yeah...
He's made it absolutely clear that investigations are a coming. So has Waxman.

The results of the investigations will lead to inertia, and inertia will lead to public opinion. And public opinion will lead to action...

I can hardly freaking wait... and intend to be part of a local process of steering public opinion. I encourage others to lead public option in your own respective areas...

It's going to be delicious...

20. Hate to sound harsh.. but you're barking up the wrong tree.
I'm growing so tired of seeing people on DU attacking HIllary and Pelosi constantly. Other than Lieberman, I can't think of any MALE democrats that have been consistently attacked this way. Plenty of people voted for the Iraq resolution, and plenty have said that impeachment was not something we should pursue right now (which I agree would have been a distraction and even more polarizing), yet it's Pelosi, Feinstein, and Hillary, that are attacked constantly. Why is that?

25. The constitution demands certain standards and procedures.
For the sake of rule of law and America's soul, investigations have to go forward and we have several heads of committees who have pledged to insure those investigations go forward.

Nancy has pledged, as have others, to undertake a thorough housecleaning and I plan not to joggle her elbow, other than a congratulatory letter and a gentle reminder that we have been listening and will be watching.

29. Why impeach Bush? At this point, he's an asset -- everyone else is fair game
The more Bush squirms, the more he talks out his ass and makes a fool of himself, the easier things will be in 2008.

Impeach the lying SOBs who work for him, yes, but not Bush... at least, not until he does something fresh and utterly repulsive.

the Dems need to look into, and frankly, while I'd like nothing more (except jail time) for Bush than impeachment, if the Dems' first move was that, then everything else would fall by the wayside, and a whole lot of crooked Republicans would once again get away with it. No, I can't agree with you on this one. We have lots and lots of fish to fry here; I'm ready for a banquet, not a one-course meal.
