Chris Mathews distrurbs me |
|
He keeps referring to the slaughtering of the "innocents" or republicans who did nothing wrong but "be republican". That bothers me so much, because he is basically saying that the fact that these people who have whored out for republicans are "innocents". His true colors shine through when he says crap like this, but my response is basically, if you are a republican and you give Bush a blank check to do whatever he wants to do, then you need to lose. End of discussion...

He can flip on issues 180% within the same news casts.

17. I heard all of that from Tweety tonight. |
|
And he was rather patronizing toward KO when their stint was over. He praised a bit and then fluffed KO off--I thought. But Keith took it with his most dignified demeanor, which left Tweety looking like a dolt. Matthews personality stinks and he was angry over the vote.

27. Keith Olberman, former sportscaster, is ten times more articulate than Tweety, |
|
the "serious" news reporter.
Just seeing them together was such a contrast. There was Olbermann, who speaks extremely well, who seldom messes up a word or phrase, who is well-groomed and stately looking, who clearly has a very large vocabulary which he uses well, and who has a very quick intelligence.
Next to him, this blathering guy Tweety, with the northeastern accent (I thought news guys were supposed to eschew regional accents), who speaks way too fast, so fast that he slurs his words, and who engages in bizarre hero-worship instead of serious reporting.
And Keith is the one who was the sportscaster. Leave it to Tweety to make a sports buff look like an intellectual by comparison. (Not criticizing sportscasters--just noticing that they have a different image than do those who affect the airs and graces of "serious" reporters.)

23. Wasn't that nauseating? |
|
I heard the Tweetster actually go through the list of his friends who went down. He had to make sure everyone knew what a "good friend" this or that one was to him. He is absolutely obsessed with letting the great unwashed audience out there know, "Hey, I hobnob with people in power! I actually KNOW these people!"
I had to laugh when I heard him talking about "Jimmy Baker" the other day. Tweety wants to make sure everyone knows that HE, Chris Matthews, actually personally KNOWS James Baker. We are all supposed to be envious... personally, I am not envious--I know just as many criminals as HE knows, from sitting in a courtroom. :)

18. He also tangled with Joe Scarborough |
|
I know that most of us don't like Joe Scarborough, but apparently Tweety really hit him, ignorantly, in a sore spot. I'm not even quite sure of what it was about, but Joe was livid.
I don't often agree with Scarborough myself, but at least he has some interesting things to say about his own party, pro and anti. Tweety just screams and talks over other people. And he said a few dumbass things tonight. His whoring for the GOP was palpable, especially in favor of Jim Talent (who lost to Claire McCaskill) and George "Macaca" Allen (probably losing to Jim Webb). And with this new, energized attitude from the Democrats, he won't be getting a pass for it much longer.
But it must be said that Olbermann came off quite well as his "foil" -- and probably better overall. This could be as much of a disaster for Matthews as it was for his brother (running for lieutenant-governor of PA with Lynn Swann), or his favorite party. The whole "I'm a Democrat but a conservative Democrat" charade has just about run out of steam.

He knows how the control of the House and Senate work. If they caucus with the R's, they have to go. Simple.
His coverage last night was beyond annoying. He kept badgering his guests like he was on Hardball, a show I don't like or watch. I wanted him to chill and let the guests talk, report the news, etc. He kept inserting his opinion into everything. I switched over to other channels a few times to get away from him.
