Yellowstone County Montana is doing a full recount!
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 03:33 AM by originalpckelly
The SOS of Montana took down all the votes from them. Before they did, Tester had a 51% lead in a county which went to Bush in 2004 with a 61% lead! This is weird, I wonder why they had to do a recount?

This is a huge county! So it could really cause Burns or Tester to lose.

1. Turning out the lights in Montana
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/11/8/32955/2606

From mcjoan:

The lights went back on in the ballroom and the media closed up shop. They've called a recount in Yellowstone Co. (Billings and environs). It's not clear what caused the recount--a local race, or this one, or what. They're not doing the recount until tomorrow morning, so we have to hang in there just a little longer.

8. Unlikely... Why only Yellowstone?
They had 43% reported... And the D ahead by a few % points.

5. What kind of recount?
Press a button and get a number on every voting box?

Will it take long?

This is exactly why everyone must vote. When things get down to the wire YOU may make the difference between victory or defeat.

35. I'm in Billings...
We use paper ballots...none of this new-fangled voting machine nonsense for us, no sir!

No problems in my precinct, but the polling place is at a grade school in a lower middle class area.

Parents would raise six kinds of hell if the kids were involved in anything like that...they tend to take having kids rather seriously.

There is some fishy shit going on, because Burns wasn't even close to beating Tester in that county, it was Tester 18161 to Burns 16888. That's about a 5% lead!

I was focusing on that county during my earlier analysis.

Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 05:14 AM by Tommymac
Some are 10/26/2006, 10/30/2006. And some are also showing partial precincts...weird ... the webmaster is slacking.

Gallatin for example...

http://sos.mt.gov/ELB/archives/2006/elections/general/counties/Gallatin/index.asp

Hill County ...

http://sos.mt.gov/ELB/archives/2006/elections/general/counties/Hill/index.asp

There are several others too...

Thanks for getting the screenies...

Hopefully, it comes out the way I have foreseen it.

I'm predicting:
49.74% For Tester
48.14% For Burns

are still recounting...Fergus and Meagher won't bring Burns enough. Yellowstone and Gallatin will be no worse than a split...maybe Tester edge.

Yellowstone county, as you noted is very conservative and their total does favor Burns, but not enough to swing the election.

40. Okay, help this former Montana girl out
There is about a 1,200 margin (in favor of Burns) in Yellowstone Co. right now.

From the Gazette story it looks like only 3,000 absentee ballots are in question.

We know that Tester worked the early voter program hard.

Tell me how this could result in Burns taking the 1,700 vote lead that Tester has across the state?

And somebody from Bozeman, please tell me why Gallatin County didn't turn blue???? Eeek!

Thank you.

d.
