Besides DU, My Favorite Election Night Resource or Tool Was...
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 04:20 AM by CorpGovActivist
... if we all fill in the blank with a recommendation, this may provide the admins of DU with ideas for new features for the next cycle - or, at the very least - ideas for partnership agreements with those tools/resources.

- Dave

P.S. Plus, it will give us all great new bookmarks!

1. In each case, the best resource was the State Election website, even in MT
The numbers at the state sites were often just moments ahead of broadcasts.

The best part is there was no speculation, just raw data. Anomalies were traceable: when MT Yellowstone county recounted, the MT Scty of State site showed the numbers before any news source reported it. We, at DU, were posting about it, and we found the Yellowstone anomaly at the same time the media reported it.

All the sites I tracked otherwise were outright wrong at least once, had data errors that went uncorrected for extended periods of time.

2. FYI...
... I posted all 50 early in the night: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/CorpGovActivist/34

I'm a Gov Geek, and crave the raw data!

; )

Maybe for future election cycles, a pin-up thread with all 50 would be helpful.

14. Sounds stupid maybe... but the comments of the voters as I worked
at different polls around the area. I know it can't be bookmarked but it was when I heard a man say,"If you run into a Republican tell them to stop using that 'Morals and Values' bullshit" that I knew things might go the right (which is left) way for a change. :D

16. I tried to update what I was hearing yesterday but the board was moving
so fast. It would be cool to have a special election poll reaction forum or thread around for next time.
