Tomorrow, I will stop wearing orange |
|
I have worn two things since the election in 2004. One is a paper clip. I wear it on everything I wear. I have one right now on my bathrobe! I will continue to wear my paper clip, to remind me that democracy takes work and vigilance.
I have also worn an orange scrunchy in my hair. Everyday. No matter what else I might wear, no matter that it more than likely will clash with my clothes. I have worn it in protest, encouraged by the people of the Ukraine.
Tomorrow, I shall begin to wear a blue one. No matter if it clashes with my clothes. I will wear it in solidarity with my party and in support of the democracy that has been saved tonight by the changing of the guard in Washington.
I shall wear it proudly and will gleefully respond with an answer as to why the color I display has changed. I will speak of hope and renewal. I will speak of fairness and accountability. I will speak of the phoenix that this country is and always has been. I will speak of friends around the world that can now realign themselves with us, the people of America, rather than the administration that has hijacked the greatest democracy the world has ever known.
I will speak with pride, for, I am a democrat.
