I actually feel sorry for them. I know. It's horrible of me to say so, isn't it? Just one more example of my bleeding heart.

Some of them actually think we're going to simply surrender to the terrorists. Are they truly this irrational, or just addicted to hyperbole? Just because we think it's fucking STUPID to rush around the world invading countries that are no danger to us and pissing off everyone else, it means that we don't want to stop terrorism.

As we have all seen, invading Iraq has done wonders in this respect, hasn't it? God, the terrorists are in their last throes.

Sorry, Freepers. That was sarcasm.

Let me put it this way. We are in no position to bully the world. We may be the "only superpower," but that status won't last forever. We need to learn to use both diplomacy AND judiciously applied military force to accomplish our objectives. Doing it the way Bush has been doing it accomplishes nothing but the making of MORE enemies than we already had.

Do you remember what happened right after 9/11? People all over the world, INCLUDING Islamic countries, were outraged by what had been done to us. Despite our sometimes less than shining reputation with many, they despised the people who'd done it. The act itself turned people AWAY from Islamic extremism. Killing thousands of innocent people was far more than most could ever begin to tolerate.

Much of the world didn't even argue against going into Afghanistan. There might have been some muttering, but it was understandable. People can accept a knee-jerk response to such a horrible attack.

But Iraq? Saddam may have been an asshole, but there are a LOT of assholes out there. What made him more important than any other? When you can tell me that, you'll have done a better job than 99% of your pet politicians and pundits.

America is asking the same question and not receiving an answer.

So, no, I'm not laughing at you, Freepers. But I do pity you. You thrust your fists to the sky and bellow impotent rage and you don't even understand why you rage. Your views are seen as simply extreme by most of the country. Conservatism is one thing. This radical fear and hatred that leads you to cheer the bull in a china shop approach to dealing with a complex problem isn't what America needs. It's not what the world needs. And it sure as hell isn't what humanity needs.

Terror begets terror begets terror. Indiscriminate killing to prove that indiscriminate killing is wrong makes NO sense whatsoever.

I only wish you could come to understand this.

But I fear you never will.
