The Dumbest Voter
My vote for the dumbest voter (and human) goes to the butcher at our grocery store.

Last night I went in with my "I Voted" sticker on.

It was raining, and he commented that he wondered if that would affect turnout. I said I had heard turnout was way up.

He said, "Oh yeah! I'm not surprised!"

Then, all wide-eyed and stupidly happy, he continued:

"When we get someone telling us our troops are stupid and that's why they're in Iraq, that's going to get people out there to VOTE!"

And it got even worse!

"You know, them Iranians and Iraq people, they're telling us to vote Democrat! And when the terrorists TELL you they want a Democrat in office, you know that the Democrats are going to support terrorism!"

I nearly lost it, but I do not engage in political fights with morons. This dipshit was a lost cause.

I'm pretty sure my bugged eyes and clenched jaw finally registered with him, as he shut up after that last one.

I'm going to be writing a letter to the grocery store, informing them that their "election night coverage" at the butcher counter needs to stay behind the scenes, and letting them know I'll be choosing another nearby store instead of theirs to shop at from now on.

1. It's not that people are republican
that bothers me. What bothers me is the non-sensical, irrational, illogical, ignorant, head up the ass, never read a book or newspaper, lemming, sheep mentality of your butcher.

4. Yup.
Swallow every right-wing talking point from Rush, Hey-nutty, or the like, and they think of themselves as informed.

What ridiculous codswallop - Democrats WANT terrorists to win? How did we get to the point where Americans would actually believe that about each other? I guess it happened during the Red Scare too.

10. Because that's what Bush and everyone else out on......
the campaign trail have been telling them. Bush came right out and said that a vote for Democrats is a vote for the terrorists. All of his other compadres on the campaign trail said the same thing. THAT'S where they get it from!

I can't wait to see how Mr. "uniter, not a divider" handles things without a rubber-stamp Congress behind him now. After demonizing Democrats for so long I can't see it as being good, ACtually, I hope the little twit short circuits, starts hitting the bottle hard and ends up sleeping in his closet, mumbling, "they're out to get me, the Democrats are EVERYWHERE and they're trying to get me". :)

5. That's what's so scary...
This idiot believed it.

I just fired off my letter to the company (Lowes Foods) telling them I do not seek political commentary at the butcher counter.

BTW, I dont' think I've ever missed any election since I turned 18. :) I now drag my husband too! (He's liberal, but never voted in non-Presidential elections before marrying me.)

Thank you for the warm welcome.

3. people like that are not Republican
they are just stupid. I know Republicans who are very smart and can articulate a true conservative vision. The problem is idiots like this guy vote Republican because they get sucked into stupid shit like you just said. All they know is: "Libruls suck.. yadda yadda yadda." Beyond that they are complete fools. Pretty dangerous too.

14. I don't know about that... maybe...

The Republican party seems to have morphed into the "Bubba" party.

The smart Republicans are rare, and only the smartest are now voting Democratic.

We are the fiscally conservative party now.

We are the party that wants government to be less intrusive now.

These are all core "Republican" values, but this new breed of Republican just doesn't get it. God, guns and killin' brown people! That's what the majority of Republicans are today.

And sadly they are expertly lead by Republican puppetmasters who are all about greed. They know that with the right mix of god, guns and killin' they will keep this ignorant group in check.

Republicans depend on guys like this.

6. There are stupid people everywhere
A caller to the Lynn Cullen Radio show on WTTP 1360 in Pittsburgh yesterday was amazing.

(Background: Stinktorum supporters had been running TV adds saying Bob Casey funded the Terrorists because he was the State Treasurer and signed checks to companies that did business in the Arab world.)

This caller said he couldn't make up his mind between the two - Lynn asked him why, and he said he didn't want to vote for Casey because he funded the Terrorists. She laughed, - he said it again - and it suddenly dawned on Lynn that the moran was SERIOUS!! He actually believed the TV ads were factual - it was true becasue he saw it on TV. He said that. She tried to tell him that they were ADS - but the dimwit never really got it....

7. Yeah, pretty dumb. But I met hundreds of dumb voters yesterday.
During my day-long greeting outside my polling place, I met literally hundreds of people who were completely clueless about what was on the ballot (we had an important local referendum -- widely publicized, but yet I wound up explaining the issue to almost every single voter). Appalling!

As I offered campaign literature to the (mostly Repug) voters in my precinct, I got rude comments of all kinds.

I am so sick of stupid people running this country via their votes. A fabulous Democratic U.S. House candidate (Lois Herr) lost in my area last night because people can't do anything but pull the Republican lever (for ultra-conservative incumbent Rep. Joseph Pitts) and hope Jesus will take care of them.

SICK OF STUPID PEOPLE!!!

9. Well I'm guessing that my letter probably won't help it...
And it doesn't require coming up with a finger in case someone demands evidence! :)

Seriously though, one or two people were at the butcher counter last night, and I did not catch his name, but it will be easy for them to narrow down who was working back there. And given what a dumbass blowhard this guy was, I'm guessing they'll probably figure it was him right off the bat.

11. Forget the letter, he'll just feel persecuted
I think it is great these people have freedom of speech. That way they can expose what idiots they are. The more they talk, the more obvious the absurdity of their position becomes.

All you have to do is point out that Kerry served in combat. The Kerry bashing from right wingers is so uncalled-for. They are dead wrong on that and always have been. "We are at war" they whine on one hand and then put down someone who served in combat on the other. If this guy is dumb enough to believe the RW talking point, then he is dumb enough to realize how wrong he is when told merely that Kerry went and served in a war. Chances are he hasn't, and Chimpy certainly hasn't.

13. Sorry I have to Disagree With You
Free speech is one thing. When you're working in a service job, what you say to the customers is not protected by "free speech".

Had this loon been ranting on the street, that's one thing. But when this loon is paid money to do the customer's bidding at the butcher counter, he should keep his mouth shut. In fact, they are usually required not to say certain things (cursing, etc.) while at work.

While shopping in a grocery store and interacting with its employees, I should not have to point out that Kerry served in combat. I should not have to defend my ideas, beliefs and the truths to an employee of any company of which I am a customer.

I just want my freaking meat and shrimp.

I hope he feels persecuted. It couldn't happen to a more deserving fella.

I hope they show him my letter in which I said I found his opinions stupidly ignorant and utterly offensive.

I felt persecuted last night. And I was the customer. That should never happen.
