Good Morning, All! The Gov Geek Nap Strategy

"I took the day off from work weeks ago (Gov Geek that I am, I knew I'd be wiped the day after the election)."

"That's why I always take the Wednesday after an election off. I'm luggage by 4 a.m., up by about 7 a.m., and have all the papers, TV, and Internet tools going. By about 2 p.m. that Wednesday, I'm ready for a nap."

While others (who shall remain nameless) are a bit hungover, this tried and true strategy works.

Only this year - unlike 2000 and 2004 - the adrenaline and coffee are rooted in reality.

The House flipped. I feel like crying tears of joy. Waxman will have the gavel!!! The Halliburton whistleblowers are gonna be heard!!!

The Senate is gonna flip, too. I can feel it. George Allen and the RNC may even give my Inner Gov Geek and me extra innings - and I'll make a prediction or two on that:

1. The RNC learns quite quickly that Virginians are not willing to abide being made a spectacle of (this is NOT Florida, this is the Mother of Presidents, damn it!), and will rebel at the prospect.

2. Any attempt by Felix and the RNC to drag this out falls short in the here and now of '06, and also creates long memories for 08, making Virginia (and its 13 Electoral College votes) that much more easily flippable (especially if Mark Warner finds his way onto the ticket).

Good morning!!! While others (who shall remain nameless) are sleeping it off, the Gov Geek Nap Strategy has triumphed. I'm gonna be wide awake to see Virginia and Montana called live - and so are you!

- Dave

2. I'm afraid I did all the wrong things...
Drank too much, too little sleep, have to work today. But I'm very, very happy. I have a little mantra going on in my head. It's something like: Pelosi...Waxman...Conyers...oh, my!

And even that pounding in my head is the happy sound...it sounds a lot like a Democrat's gavel.

5. I am really looking forward to seeing you sitting in front
Congressman Waxman's Committee soon, David. I shall be paying strict attention when you are allowed to relate your story. There are so many important tales that the whistle blowers have to tell us, stories that these patriots have been prevented from reveling that I must hear soon, the sooner the better.

This has to be such a good day for you. It is a good one for me but for you, Sibel, and company, I can't even imagine! Stay well, we need you more than ever now!

11. My Eyes Keep Welling up...
... with tears of joy. I keep thinking of the others who had to go up to Capitol Hill, in secret, who can now hold their heads high, and justify their families' faith.

6. I'm with you Dave. Virginians aren't going to play with getting final
numbers. The state is tired of this race...they want it over. Any attempts to drag it out will only meet with howls of anger. Virginians are a proud bunch of folks, and they're unhappy at how much negative attention has been thrown their way in this race. There will be a recount, but it won't be a brawl like Florida. If Webb keeps his margin, then that's the end game. Electronic voting with no paper trail makes the recount quick and easy.

12. I Predict...
1. The final precincts put Webb's margin outside the "reasonable recount range," and that

2. The RNC operatives, sensing the danger of losing Virginia in '08, will hold an intervention with Felix, and tell him to take the K Street job.
