Rep. Richard Pombo met his electoral end at The Waterloo on Tuesday night to a little-known wind energy consultant from Pleasanton.

Jerry McNerney declared victory at 12:15 a.m. today, leading 52.3 percent to 47.7 percent with 90 percent of the precincts reporting, including 100 percent from San Joaquin County.

"We won this thing. It's ours," he said amid cheers.

Pombo left The Waterloo Inn, where he had gathered to watch election results, just before midnight, not yet conceding defeat.

7. I sat here rubbing my eyes as I looked at the results. Wasn't sure I was
reading it right.
Then I found the article in the Stockton paper and about flew out of my chair.

:bounce:

5. He was a rotten piece of opportunistic trash. Willing to sell
out the entire environmental infrastructure to big business.

Well his big business buddies weren't enough to pull it out for his rotten ass, were they??????

6. Yee-HAAAAAAA!!! WhooooooEEEEE!!
Hell, yes, I'm dancin'!! That asshat Pombo was dedicated to ensuring that our grandchildren didn't have a shred of arable land left, a breath of clean air, or a drop of drinkable water. To see him go down gives me HOPE!

delightedly,
Bright

The Waterloo?

Let me join you in the happy dance. This is the best news of the day for environmental policy.

14. A really, really delicious dish of irony
I heard the news of McNerney declaring victory, minutes after it happened, from an unofficial source that also reported the Big Dog had already called to congratulate him. I wonder if Clinton put the buzz in McNerney's head to step up and declare victory so he could go to sleep.

Pombo's loss is cause for celebration! HOOT!

9. This POS was in big trouble if they carted Bubblehead Laura....
down there in a failed attempt to rally up some trash.

She said he was a steward of the environment while morphing into a "Tony Snow" with all that Bizarro talk.

On Friday, Bush said that she, Pombo and her husband, President Bush, share a commitment to natural preservation. "Congressman Pombo is an enthusiastic steward of our country's national resources,'' she said.

That mofo even had a commercial making it sound like he went after the oil companies.
