Iraqis skeptical Democrat gains will bring change
I say to the Iraqi, hang in there we are trying, thing will probably get worst for them for a few days then it'll start turning around. We good people in America are with you, only the basturds aren't. imo

By Mussab Al-Khairalla

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqis were doubtful on Wednesday that any U.S. party could restore their wrecked country, after U.S. mid-term elections gave Democrats at least partial control of Congress.

A number of Iraqis, increasingly pessimistic as violence on the streets shows no signs of fading, said they had not even followed the U.S. election race.

"Iraq is long ruined and American policy is fixed, whichever party takes control of Congress. If the Democrats can finally bring us some security they are welcome, but I believe no one can succeed," said Abdullah, a 28-year-old computing student.

1. No offense but we have alot of our own problems to clean up right now too
Iraq is priority no doubt but that doesn't mean America's problems internally will go unanswered. Look to the repukes to start with the "they're ignoring Iraq!!" while Dems are working on trying to get the minimum wage increased.

3. Were these Republican appointed Iraqis?
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 10:10 AM by Horse with no Name
My gut says they were. They don't represent the will of their people any more than the Republicans represented our will.

4. That's because corporate media kept pushing the meme that CONSERVATIVE Dems won
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 10:11 AM by blm
and rarely mentioned that almost every Dem who won ran AGAINST the war and FOR a withdrawal plan.

5. Iraq is forked beyond recognition
Anyone who thinks democrats (or the lordgawd himself) can magically make it all better is delusional.

Iraqis are smart. They know better.

Maybe, MAYBE we can start extricating ourselves from this mess and let them come up with their own solutions.

7. No delusion here but we should and must give a helping hand
after all we are the ones who screwed it all up, not them.

8. I think they're beyond help now. The blood feud is deeply entrenched
Sticking around in Iraq is akin to trying to hold Yugoslavia together after that dictator Tito died.
