Democrats Win a Majority of Governorships
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/07/election.governors/index.html

(CNN) -- Six governorships switched from Republican to Democratic in Tuesday's election, giving Democrats control of a majority of top state posts for the first time in 12 years.

Democrats were projected to need a net pickup of four governorships in 36 races to get to 26.

More at the link.

The access to state organizations will help in 2008. Way to go, Democrats!!!

1. This is really terrific new that sorta gets overlooked in all the excitement. History has show us t
that Presidents usually come from Governors. More Democratic Governors = more chance of a Democratic President.

2. Yep, last night I noticed a large number of states
going blue in the gubernatorial way, and I was curious this morning to see how many we picked up. Impressive!!!

4. Hand to Tom Vilsack of Iowa
He was the head of the Democratic Governor's Association. His Heartland PAC raised a lot of money to fuel these races and help Democrats have a great night taking back governor seats around the country - something important for whomever we nominate in 08. Vilsack is often overlooked for a lot of the great work he has done in building the ranks of Democratic governors. Thanks Tom!!!

How great it is to be in Iowa - a new governor in Chet Culver (40 yrs old) and a new majority in the state house and senate and now a democratic majority in our national congressional delegation. Dave Loebsack won in IA-02 with almost no national funding!!!! It's great to be a Hawkeye today!

6. Yes, I agree, that is getting overlooked.
But he did a great job and so did everyone working on these campaigns. I'm very proud of the work they did.
