Without his efforts, his 50 state strategy; his gumption, his leadership in pushing, pulling, prodding, encouraging, daring elected Dems to dream of taking back both the HOUSE and SENATE, I don't think we'd have the results we have this morning.

That's why it's so important to have a strong, widespread organization across the entire country. Two years ago, who would've thought that we could take Tom DeLay's district? Who would've thought that we could take Foley's district? Who would've thought that we could take Montana and Virgina's Senate seats?

Regardless of missteps, if we didn't have good candidates in place and organizations operating, we couldn't have taken advantage of them.

Howard Dean! He's been my hero for a long time, ever since I heard him say at the California Democrats meeting in 2003(?), "I'm tired of ... right-wing preachers, of .... I want my country back!"

In all parts of the country, wonderful things happened last night. Three Cheers for Howard Dean, and props to everyone who believed in him, his strategy, and more importantly, to everyone who helped implement this strategy- who believed that those of us that live in a "red state" shouldn't be written off. We did this together as a unified party. I can only hope that we take the lessons learned during this campaign, and apply it to the next one. It clearly worked on a national level. On a state level, here in NC, we used the momentum given to us by the energy to take back federal races to gain even more ground in the state house and senate.
