8. A top priority I would say
There is now a groundswell of awareness from both sides of the aisle which could insure investigation and change in our broken system. We have two years to fix it. Even with the win today we must not grow complacent.. Election Reform is a must, especially for '08

2. Like get rid of the electoral college?
The days of the pony express are gone. Let each vote count and stand as one.

13. Yes, instant run-off voting, paper ballots, standardized election rules
no Secretary of States who have conflicts of interest, no more computerized machines, mandatory public financing for campaigns etc. etc. etc.

14. Woohoo! That's a GREAT list
VERY big wishlist. I hope we can get it done. That would change face of American politics massively. IRV alone would, not to mention public campaign financing. Go, Howard!

19. My list.
1. Campaign finance reform. Each eligible candidate gets financing from the government in the same amount. No outside funding allowed.

2. Paper ballots, to be hand counted, twice by each party. If they want to put them through machines for a double check that's fine but it's the hand count that is the official count.

3. Runoff voting. It more accurately reflects the will of the people.

4. Disband the electoral college. It's not needed in this more modern age anymore.

21. Let's make election day a damn holiday already!
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 04:19 PM by SnowGoose
Maybe do it on the 4th of July, when everybody's feeling so flag-wavy.

I'd like to see it happen over a couple of days, too, to give an opportunity to remedy all those pesky machines that coincidentally fail to work in Democratic precincts. One day isn't enough time to react to the "unforeseen" (but completely predictable).
