How come backwoods, inbred-filled, deep-red, gun crazy Arizona, |
|
is the ONLY state to reject the same-sex marriage ban? Yeah, I'm talking to you Colorado - Idaho - South Carolina - South Dakota - Tennessee - Virginia! :wtf:
Maybe we're not so "backwoods" after all.

2. Sorry, but we are as backward as you think. We already have a ban on Gay Marriage, |
|
the proposed amendment sought to use the pervasive bigotry against gays to take domestic partnership benefits away from, mostly, state employees. ;(
But it did go down, and I guess that's what really counts. :hi::kick::hi:

5. I've been explaining this because it was DIFFERENT than the other anti-gay props |
|
This proposition called for not just banning gay marriage but ALSO stripping away benefits for domestic partners.
This is what cost the proposition its victory-even the bigoted couldn't see good reason to strip away healthcare from other human beings based on just sexual orientation.
PS Pima County (Tucson) is quite blue and we just gave left of center Gabby a trouncing victory over backwoods inbred Randy Graf
Blood Red Maricopa County turned out in favor of a lesbian for governor, voted AGAINST gay marriage ban, AND kicked Hayworth out.
My friends I just may stay in Arizona after all...

Beautiful state! Loved it and the people were very friendly.
It is obvious that Arizona is NOT a redneck backwoods cracker state. :hi:

11. Don't fall for it, it is just a facade. We have a huge tourist industry that |
|
is #2 behind agriculture in the state, and we learned how to hide the truth from the tourists in the MLK debacle in the 80's under Mecham (yes we elected a used car sales weasel for governor, fortunately he couldn't restrain himself and ended up in jail).
Arizona banned gay marriage in '04(?), this proposal was about taking partner benefits away from un-married state employees and had nothing to do with gay/straight. But, the main thing is that it was voted down.

14. And moving away from Atlanta was one of the very few regrets I have |
|
in my life. I grew up here in the west, so I was just awestruck by the incredible beauty and impenetrable lushness of Georgia and Atlanta was/is(?) the easiest large city in the country to live in, IMO.
Please don't take my warning as a denial of the great natural beauty of the state, it is unique in both its beauty and the proximity of so many natural wonders, and the old timers are much more libertarian (in the traditional sense, not the uber-fascists that control the party) than conservative, IOW, they take 'live and let live', and 'you mind your business, I'll mind mine' very seriously. No, it's the fascist transplants that screw things up here. Look at how the propositions went here, every anti-Mexican measure passed convincingly.
So please come back this winter, get a good sunburn for the holidays and make your friends jealous, just remember when you visit here, you are seeing what we want you to see, not reality.
