We're back !.. But are the Dems the same as we remember? |
|
We have to make sure that the Democrats remain the LIBERAL, PROGRESSIVE party..
That is up to us.. to hold their feet to the fire, and make sure their "Center swing" starts to swing left again !!!

1. I think what we "remember" is a bit of a myth |
|
I am not saying there is no reason to goveern left of center. I am just saying that if you look at the past 46 years and in terms of governance other than the "voting rights act: and the War on poverty 40 years ago, we have never governed as progressives. We have governed in the center.
The progressive idealogy (such that it is) has not matched up legislatively to what we say rhetorically.

2. Wow, you're really worried this morning, aren't you? |
|
Your posts seem full of potential doom scenarios for Dems today.
You're way ahead of me. I'm still celebrating.
But thanks for worrying about everything for me! :hi:

4. I guess I have utopian ideals |
|
I want this country to fianally stand up to its spoken ideals...
I'm glad the Dems are in, but has a "liberal progressive" mindset taken over this country?...I don't think so... The Dems won because the Rethugs lost.

3. Um...when exactly WAS it that Democrats were the "liberal, progressive party"? |
|
The New Deal? The JFK/LBJ era? Been a while, anyway. For the past forty years or so the Democratic Party has only been "liberal" and "progressive" in contrast to the Republicans, and the Democratic Party has shifted to the right as the GOP has shifted to the right (Bill Clinton not being very far from an Eisenhower-style Republican).
