What if * bails
I really don't see him working with us, and Pelosi will demand nothing less. If he steps down (after much shredding) what happens then?

8. He'll use XO's and the veto. But for Bush to just step down?
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 11:27 AM by Solly Mack
The GOP does not want Cheney as the face of the GOP. Cheney's poll numbers have always been in the dumpster. No one likes Cheney. No one. And for his face to be front and center going into 2008? Not gonna happen.

Bush won't bail. The conservative powers that be won't let him. Oh, they'll allow him to leave office in disgrace in 2009 and then blame it all on him and not conservative policy - but they won't let him bail.

They'll even allow him to be impeached...provided Cheney resigns before then and a "suitable" face for 2008 is ushered into his VP spot. And by this I mean the conservative powers that be will encourage(bribe, threaten) other republicans to vote for impeachment and conviction. The GOP in Congress will sell Bush out for the right price (money for re-election and other things)

But they will not let him just bail.

And Bush's character won't allow him to just bail. This isn't the National Guard(which meant nothing to Bush) - he full knows bailing brings shame on his family and it would hurt his cronies. Bush's ego knows bailing means he was wrong...Bush doesn't admit when he's wrong. Bush just simply bails and everything he has done becomes a target and it's open season on all conservatives.

10. Solly, he's bailed on everything he has ever done.
He won't admit he is wrong, but he also is the kind to take his football and go home leaving the team stranded.

11. He's a petty sore loser, yes...but he won't be allowed to bail
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 11:51 AM by Solly Mack
the conservatives are already spinning everything as a Bush failure and not a conservative policy failure. They are already selling him out to save themselves. But if Bush is allowed to bail, they become the target too. They can't afford that.

I'd love to see him just stomp out of office with his lips poked out...grabbing up his toys and going...but I don't see it happening by his own hand. Pushed, yes...but of his own doing? No

9. Never happen, I'm surprised you are even considering it, it is not in him.
He will continue to squat in the White house for the next two years lobbing grenades and vetoes, alienating the rest of the world, until he is forced out.

He doesn't care about, the country, its citizens, the parties, or even right and wrong, only about himself and his delusional self-image.

12. It's not really "bailing" if the world revolves around YOU.
You're just changing the set dressing for the next scene.
