Did you see the video of Rick Klantorum daughter?
She was really squeezing out those tears while mommy was spaced out and grinning. :WTF:

1. Leave the kids alone
It is mean and ugly. Not everything is fair game. She is a little girl who hasn't ever done anything to you.
We are better than that.

4. You know what, that's very true. The kid is innocent in all this.
The damn parents should be beat within an inch of their lives for using them that way.

10. Thank you.
Stop it with this picking on kids crap. We have enough reasons to despise Santorum without bringing his children into the mix.

I was not attacking her and you know it, I was just commenting on what I saw on the news and her mother's reaction to her crying, if you saw the video her reaction was really creepy and disturbing.

8. Hands off the kids
Santorum trotted them out for the cameras, using their (understandable) distress to further his political career, now as a highly-paid culture war pundit.

Daddykins -- and Mommy Dearest -- deserve our wrath for exploiting them. And maybe the fetus party they had when Karen Santorum miscarried. And crap like that.

Nobody ever doubted that Rick and Karen Santorum loved their kids -- until last night.

The kids always suffer when Daddy and Mommy are whacked-out parents.

Believe me, I understand your disdain for Sen. Man-On-Dog. I'm a Pennsylvanian. I worked against him each time he ran for office. But leave the kids out of it. They don't deserve it -- and they certainly deserve better than what they got.

--p!

9. Okay, I've seen this once too often.......
Let me tell you what this is like from someone who's been in that kid's shoes.

For one thing, it can be frightening. My father was in some sort of elected office from the time I was 3 up through my early 20's. Believe me, when you're a little kid this shit can be scary as hell. My mother was smart. She assigned burly volunteers or staffers to watch each of the little kids in the family. Whether the crowd was jubilant or depressed, it was potentially dangerous for a little kid. Not that anyone was out to hurt us -- they weren't. But imagine being 3 foot something and being in one of those huge crowds. People, even when they're trying to be nice, surge around you, you can no longer see a face you recognize....it can be scary as hell. Thanks for a smart and good Mom, we were always pretty secure, though there were tense moments at times.

Then you're standing up there with hot, bright lights shining on you and lots of adults staring at you (well really, more your parents, but it sure feels like you). Even when your parent has won, it's intimidating for lots of kids. This is your MOM or DAD up there. You know there are expectations of you to comport yourself appropriately and believe me, it ain't always easy. Some kids are going to cry -- they're just showing what others are feeling. THEY'RE KIDS!

I've even seen comments about the little girl's doll and the doll's matching dress. So what? She's a little girl! Can you imagine being thrilled to have a special matching dress for your favorite doll. I can. Jesus, she's a KID! Regardless, she's a little girl who is there through happenstance and does NOT need people picking on her or picking apart every little thing she does.

As for the way she looks (I've also seem a few snide comments about that), I was that chubby little girl up there. Can you imagine what it feels like knowing that people are making those snide comments about you? Can you imagine what it's like knowing that your picture will be plastered all over the papers the next day and not only are you going to hate the way you look but there are going to be people out there making nasty cracks about the way you look?

Sorry, I just had to get this out. Most folks here have been really cool about standing up for the kids. It's just sad to see that there are people who will go that low.

JUST LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE! They didn't ask for this and they're doing their best under very difficult circumstances.

11. I never even saw the kids
I was too stunned at the gracious and downright *human* concession speech from Man-on-Dog. For just a minute there I almost forgot what a vile person he had been. I guess I have one good thing to say about him now. He went out with class, and not all Macaca-like.

12. I won't attack the kids, but,..
it pisses me off that the fucker trots his crying kids out in front of the camera for a photo op. It's all about getting sympathy and showing what a wonderful family man he is. It's about him maintaining a viable political career in defeat.

He'll be back and if he gets power again, he won't give a fuck about your crying children.

17. Most politicians are surrounded by their families......
on election night. Believe me, I hate Santorum and am beyond delighted that he lost but damn, it is okay for Dems to "trot their families" out but not for Republicans? I can criticize Santorum for weeks without repeating myself, but this one isn't fair.

19. A lot of people's kids are crying in Iraq
I agree with the sentiment that we shouldn't attack the kids, she was just feeling sad for her Daddy whom she truly loves. I respect that and I hope my son would do the same should I ever run for office - I want him to believe in me as a father, friend and as a professional.

On the other hand, Santorum used them as props in this press conference even though his concession was genuinely classy. Plus, does anyone think Rick cares about their kids crying in the sands of Iraq? Crying over lost friends, lost limbs, lost opportunities? How about the people in New Orleans that lost everything? Maybe Rick will learn some humility from his daughter and change his ways.

I'm not holding my breath.

Santorum doesn't give a shit about your kids or my kids, let alone
Iraqi kids.
However, that doesn't make it right for us not to care about his kids.
We have plenty of good reasons to hate this man...but not one good reason to hate his children.

used the body of his miscarried child to make political points. For that reason alone I judge Santorum's actions much more harshly than other politicos.

I thought the world hated him. I am sure this little girl feels the same way. Bash him to hell and back, and leave the innocent out of it. It's not her fault that her father will use her for sympathy.
