Senate 49D 49R 2I - what happens to committees? |
|
Assuming it ends up that way, with two (hopefully - stick to your promise Joe!) Dem leaning independents, what does that mean for the major committee makeup? Do we get 10-8 because the I's caucus with Dems or do we split 9-9 because the main parties are equal? Yes of course this assumes MT and Va fall the right way.
Anyone who can definitively answer - preferably with some cite to Senate rules - would earn my thanks and appreciation. I have been unable to locate a rule that applies to this case.

1. It will depend upon whom the Independents elect to caucus with... |

...they will hold the swing votes. Wonder if Holy Joe learned anything from his near-death experience? No matter, he's not gonna party with the GOPpies, he can read the tea-leaves as well as anyone. Why would he jump aboard a sinking ship?
And we can count on dear Bernie Sanders to caucus with the Dems. So that will give the Dems a caucus of 51, and the majority.
Do something nice for a GOPpie today. Buy 'em a cuppa coffee, pat 'em on the shoulder, hold a door for 'em, whatever. Smile at them. Prove we've got better manners than their lot had when they held the reins.
encouragingly, Bright
