Speaker Pelosi: "Impeachment is off the table." |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 12:26 PM by GaYellowDawg
She was very definite that Democrats would be about the future and not revenge. Remember how bad the Republicans were in 1994? And how we've talked about how partisan and divisive they were? It would be lovely to impeach and fire Bush... but it might not be the best move for either the country or the future of our party.
On edit: Let me refine this answer. What I would consider to be the absolute ideal would be for investigations to result in evidence that cause the American people to DEMAND impeachment. I really, really think that we need to avoid the appearance of a witch hunt.

2. Investigate... then impeach |
|
You know the investigations are going to discover things we couldn't imagine. The Downing Street Memos will finally get the press it deserves. Just think of all of the things that will be uncovered. Pelosi is right to start out this way... impeachment will come but we have to investigate and get everything on record first.

4. Smart move. We need to invest time and energy in investigations. |
|
If we uncover all the dirt and maggots buried by this Repub-controlled Congress, then the American public will be screaming for impeachment, demanding it.
Smart move, indeed.

The Pukes wanted to get rid of Clinton because he pissed them off something personal. It wasn't for one second about the good of the country.
Let's have the investigations and bring the facts to light. When the nation calls for impeachment, nobody can then argue that it's politics, cuz it ain't. I think we need an impeachment as a matter of national redemption, a means of repudiating everything the Republicans have done over the past six years. But this has to be seen as coming from the people, not the party. It's not about the man, Bush, it's about what his actions have done to this nation's honor.

8. People, this isn't a great move, but I think it's at least somewhat solid |
|
No matter how much we want it, we need 2/3 vote in house and senate - we do not have that yet. We must investigate and show the public even more bullshit the rethugs have done and then see where we stand.
Let's do things that impact the people right now - like increasing minimum wage, cutting student interest loans in half, etc.

I'd like nothing more than to see Junior and his bastard brigade impeached and strung up by the cajones.
However, why engage in activities that will only give the Republicans fodder?
We need to move FORWARD and show America that we are the party of BIG IDEAS and DECENCY. America is sick and tired of the corruption and of the scary Republican agenda.
All we have to do is bring forth clever, solution-oriented legislation that protects the country, preserves our civil rights, helps the middle class and restores our standing in the world.
Show the country that you can spy on terrorists without spying on all of us!
Show the country that you can end corruption in Washington and end business as usual.
She the country that we can punish terrorists without having a sick, perverted stance on torture!
Lift this country up!!! Make it better!!! We'll heal our country, help the world and position ourselves to take the rest of the Senate and the Presidency in 08!!!!

But I'm holding out hope that f****r gets impeached. The new Speaker of the House is light years better at speaking than the pretzeldent, I must say.
