Savor the appetizer. The main course is still on the stove.

Calm down. It's coming. Justice is coming.

7. K&R...
I agree completely. Let the business be done, let the investigations proceed... and when the evidence is clear, and the people demand it, THEN proceed.

Not to mention, it's nice to watch them squirm a while.

8. If investigations move public sentiment to support impeachment
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 05:39 PM by kenny blankenship
strongly--then I'm for it. But not before sentiment shifts, and meanwhile impeachment should not be the stated aim of investigations. People are going to want INSTITUTIONAL REFORM, along with the clean up of the Iraq mess. The messes are so large it's impossible to say what shape the reform and clean up should take exactly, but the conspicuous punishment of George W. Bush is no substitute for progress. And if an impeachment ends in a acquittal in the Senate the people will probably write Democrats off as overreaching and petty partisans, no better than their Republican predecessors. Then the Democratic majority will prove very short-lived.

Investigate--and let the chips fall where they may. But we must not be seen pursuing a partisan vendetta.

15. Amen to that blankenship....
The only thing a rush to impeachment would do is throw away the good sentiment that got the independents to support Democrats this election cycle. It would look too much like "business as usual" recriminations and payback.

I hate the thought that the chimpster might go unpunished, but the need to do the country's business overrides all other concerns. They seem to have a good starting point with Pelosi's 100 hour plan. Once things get going, investigations into institutional problems can proceed.

Then, and only then, impeachment might come about, but like you said: Only if real investigations lead to the American public strongly supporting impeachment would it proceed into that.

13. My only problem is with people saying we shouldn't do it.
If we believe in the Constitution, impeachment is imperative. That doesn't mean we shouldn't gather evidence and support for it first.

16. If it's not right on the table, it should be on a chair next to the table.
It should not be ruled out, that's for sure. Although even if Pelosi says over and over, "There will be no impeachment," that means nothing. If there's demand for impeachment, she won't be able to stop it.

14. Nah... Pelosi won't impeach
Why do you think they're making a big deal about Pelosi being
such a slam dunk contender for speaker? It's because she'll
be a good little speaker and go with the program. She won't
impeach and she won't do much to hurt big biz. She won't go
against the Pat Act, the MCA, the war. She won't go against
the North American Union. She won't go against the PTB.

Don't think left versus right. Think NWO/corporatists versus
the rest of us. The way they're accomplishing their aims is
by playing the two parties off, each one making advances
toward their goals.
